Hi Melvin,

Thank you for sharing your timeline. The first page on the old ones was thicker and it also had some wiring :P at the back of the first page. Is it still the same? I saw one the other day and noticed they have changed the look of the first page and there was no wiring anymore.

Thanks
M

Yes you can, I went to New York 2 years ago using my CTD. I had to apply for a visa whihh was about £100 and ho to the embassy in London. As far as I remember (maybe because I had been on several trips to New York before) they treat you with a certain amount of respect, although because of the demand there is a lot of waiting around for a process that lasted less than 10 minutes for me!
Hi Melvin,
Hope you don't mind me asking, what documents where required at the US embassy for applying for the visa on the CTD? how soon did you get an interview date? did you apply for it online or did you have a ring up for it? I apologize if these questions sound a bit naive :) :D
I'm making inquiries on behalf of a mate who has CTD, and hoping he can join us on a trip to Vegas later in the year.

Hello Imaner, what do you mean by old document?

And out of curiosity, after you requested your BRP - how long did it take you to receive it back from HO.

Thanks

Hi Uchida

i think I did both. There is a lengthy online form to fill in on their embassy website. Make sure it is the correct class of visa first. Then you pay online, but I think I rang up for an appointment with the reference number geberated online. I got an appointment for the next day but it depends on the time of year I think.

I would just follow all the instructions on the website and if your friend has not been to The US before he may be in for a slightly longer process than I had.

P.S.
My one is the new version of CTD; it's like the new British passports. The photo page is not thick and there is no wiring anymore!

Hi I received my CTD and BRP early February 2016 my application took 3 mths. At first I got a letter saying my application was refused because I didn't submit status letter and payment details was wrong. Anyway I submitted status letter and filled out another payment form and got my CTD and BRP within a week. The HO didn't return my status letter. Can I request for them to send it back? Thank you

Hi Candygirl,

Thank you for sharing your timeline. I am sure you can request for it to be returned by writing them a letter. What status letter are you referring to?

Thanks

It takes between 3-5 months for first time applicants. Renewals are quicker. Mine took 4 months (applied in nov 2015)

I think there is real problem they do not want to talk about. How is it that people apply roughly at the same time period, and while some get theur CTD within four weeks, others will wait for 6 months, and this irrespective of whether it's the first CTD or not ?

Application received : 20 March
Debited: 31 March
Acknowledgement: April 5th,
Waiting ( 10 weeks)
I had booked a trip for next week, didn't think it will take that long!

Applicationa sent :21/03/2016
Acknowledge received: 3/4/2016
Still waiting 11 weeks
Do u have any idea when will I get it?
