Arrived in UK as child, now adult - what to do next?

Post by Rosedoll » Mon Feb 15, 2016 5:43 pm

Hi all I hope someone can help us & sorry if this is in wrong section.

My boyfriend came to the UK 15 years ago from Zimbabwe with his family. He didn't have his own passport and the family were given a visa on ancestral decent, then ILR in 2005. His only ID is his residence permit on his mothers passport. (He never had his own passport) He also has a UK drivers licence.

8 years ago his parents naturalised and became British citizens. My boyfriend is looking to do the same, is it going to be a problem for him to do so with the fact his only proof is a document on his mums old passport? As it was from so long ago her Zimbabwean passport is expired. We've also seen that he needs to do a B1 test, would this document also be okay for that? There is no signature from him on there as he was 14/15 and now 30.

Many thanks if anyone can help us.

Edited to add: he has a child in the UK. Not sure if that makes any difference?

If he is an adult on ILR then he needs to go through the normal route (gov uk link) and fulfil the requirements.

For requirement, please click here where seniors have compiled information to read. Good luck.
Being British is a state of mind.

Brill, thank you.

Didn't want to go through this process and it gets rejected for some reason.
