Visitor Visa for in-laws

Post by salman83 » Wed Mar 02, 2016 10:50 am

Hi,
My parents in-law are planning to visit us this summer. I and my wife are both british citizens
with me working full time and my wife is house wife only. We live in a 2-bedroom private rented house and we do
not have any children. My father in-law is a retired person while my mother in-law is a house wife only.

- Can I sponsor my in-laws or my wife needs to sponsor them?
- What are the documents/evidence that they need to submit? Also, what documents do I need to submit?
- How much money needs to be present in the bank account.
- Is there is any visa application form for standard visa category as currently there is no support
for online application from Pakistan.
- How long the visitor visa is valid means 3 or 6 months

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

Hi,
Does anyone knows which form to use in order to apply for visitor visa from Pakistan.

Also, are the property documents must be submitted originally or attested copy will suffice.

Regards.

have tried to answer your questions in bullet points:

- Its an online application, which you then print out, check this sticky link:

http://www.immigrationboards.com/immigr ... 65576.html

- You can sponsor them
- This is a list that i have drawn up for my own in-laws visit in June, they will be applying next month, still missing things i believe, but i am updating it as i read other post and doing research.

Applicant
Appointment Letter Printout
Online Application Printout
Original Passport
4 Passport Size Photographs as per UKVI Standards
Old Passport(s)
Marriage Certificate
Documents confirming source of income (Translated)
Property documents (Translated)
Six Months Bank Statement
Covering Letter from Applicant

Sponspor
Letter from Sponsor
Sponsor's Passport Copy
Sponsor's UK Visa Copy
Sponsor's Payslips (6 Months)
Sponsor's Bank Statements (6 Months)
Sponsor's Accommodation Proof - i.e Property Deeds
Sponsor's Utility Bill Copy - i.e Gas\Electric or Council Tax or Water Bill.

- Money questions i can't answer, i'm sure you need some disposable income after expenses to show you can support 2 extra people and i don't know how much savings you need to show.
- See link above
- 6 months for standard visit visa, but reading the forum its not good practise to stay the whole 6 months, as it is a visit visa not residencey. It may harm future visits if you do.

Hope this helps....

Hi Prem,

Thanks for the reply.

One more question, how much money does my in-laws have to show on bank statement for their 6 months trip.

Thanks one again.

Regards.

Visit visas are for the odd ad-hoc 2/3 week visit, not 6 months effective residency.

I know that. They will most probably staying for a month or two.

It will be grateful if I know what are the minimum level of finances that they need to show in their bank statements.

Again I can't answer that, a monthly income showing steady credits. The ECO won't like it if there is a large deposit out of the blue, especially close to when your applying.

If your sponsoring them it should be ok.

Hi,

A quick question regarding providing financial evidence for Standard Visitor Visa.
As a host to my parents, I understand that I do not have to "maintain" a minimum balance for 6 months, I just have to provide 6 months bank statements to show that I have enough money to support my parents-which means that the bank balance can keep fluctuating during the 6 months.

What I am not clear is if my parents, when they show their 6 months statements, do they need to "maintain" a minimum balance for 6 months? Or can the balance start at a lower amount during 1st month (say Rs 50,000) and then gradually move up to a higher amount (say Rs. 200,000) within six months. The rise in balance could be through income from selling stocks and shares or enacashing fixed deposits etc?

Could you advise please?
Thanks in advance and I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,
