Surrender and british passport

Post by sonub4ualt » Thu Mar 31, 2016 7:53 am

Hi

Do we need british passport for applying surrender certificate? Or only naturalization certificate would do?

Thanks
Sonu.

Either:

1. British Passport

or

2.
a) Naturalisation certificate
+
b) an undertaking that a British passport application is under process and that you are okay with the surrender certificate and OCI being issued without British passport number mentioned on it.

Thx for your quick response. I will not be applying for oci now. I just thought applying for british passport and then surrender would save time. Would definately apply for oci once i have the british passport. But was just wondering if i can submit the surrender application before receiving the british passport

My earlier response is in reference to your query - an application for "surrender of Indian passport". Not sure why/how you inferred it to be related to OCI application!

My current post is related to my wife's application. She had her ceremony today and will be applying for her british passport tomorrow. I have posted this query on her behalf. She hasn't got an account here. Sorry for the confusion and thx again for ur advice. We will apply for her surrender certificate after receiving her British passport.
