ILR proccessing times (time limit?)

Post by radamist » Tue Dec 07, 2004 12:16 pm

Hi

I was stupid enough to send my ILR through post in September, I was sure it would take not more then 13 weeks.

It's 3rd months and my application is still under consideration.

Do you know how much it can take?
Is there any time limit?
Is there any way to speed it up?

According to their websites, they are currently processing 1st Sept. When did you submit your application?

The only way to speeden up the processing is to fax them an urgent treatment form, state your reasons for urgent treatment and let them know the date by which you need your passports back. If they accept it, they will try to meet your deadlines.

mwazir Thanks for quick response.

I'm not sure what you meant in: "they are currently processing 1st Sept" ??

and can you give me the link of this website?

I submitted mine in 17 or 18 th of Sept.

FLR = Further Leave to remain - ( Work Permit for Example)

ILR = Indefinite Leave to ramain (Permenant Residency)

they are completley diffferent and the procedures and the processing times are different..

I'm bit confused now.

so information on the website is not relevant to my case?

I had 4 year work permit, after it expired in September, I submitted ILR application on basis of work permit.

So returning to my original question, what is the realistic processing time for ILR.

thanks

9. How long will it take to process your application?
We aim to complete 70% of all new applications within 3 weeks of receiving them in the Immigration and
Nationality Directorate (IND). We should deal with postal applications within 13 weeks at most from when
we receive them in IND. For the latest information on our current processing times, please see the
information sheet enclosed with this form if you received it from the Application Forms Unit; or, if you have
access to the Internet, please see the "making an application" page at www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk
The applications which we may not be able to complete within 3 weeks of receiving them are those
requiring further documents, enquiries or an interview, or those which are particularly complex. The
enquiries needed could include visits by the Immigration Service.
We would advise you not to make any non-urgent travel plans until we have returned your own and any
dependants’ passports or travel documents.

K2004

thanks, I have already read it.
I don't beleave they do it in 13 week

I was interesting in 'real-life' cases. from personal experience.

I was talking to a friend he's a student. He submitted student Visa extension application 8 months ago and still no answer, I know another guy he's wating for more than 6 months (again student extension).

So I thought if stundent Visa takes 8 month ILR would take 2 years !!!
That's why I started panicing.

thanks
You cannot apply for an ILR after your work permit has expired.. you should apply while you still on work permit and still working, have you made sure that all your relevant documents are correct? if it is .. then you should be getting an answer soon, dont panic, they are very busy this xmas because everyone want their application to be dealt with so they can travel the xmas period..

next time I suggest you apply in person, this advice is for all who read this ..check my post http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=2235

good luck :)

I wrote it wrong in my previous post, yes I applied before my wotk permit expired. They told me that all documents are ok and it's under consideration.

So I have to wait then...

thanks K2004

my congratulations (you should change your nick now :) )

as I undertand you had FLR application (I have ILR), do you think it's worth a try to ask my employer to write a similar letter? I thought medical emergencies were only reason to speed up the application.
