Visitor visa for my father - what are the chances?

Post by una86 » Mon Jul 04, 2016 4:37 pm

Hello,

My father is thinking to apply for a visit visa to visit me in UK for a month. However, I'm not completely convinced that he would be able to obtain the visa, and hence would appreciate your opinion on this.

My father is retired and self-employed. He has around 25,000 GBP on his company's account, but his personal bank statement (over the period of 6 months) does not show sufficient funds to support himself during the stay. The reason for this is that he transferred all his savings to my account in UK to help me with the deposit for my new flat. The current balance on his account is around 3,000 GBP, but this money has only been on his account for a week.

As for my side, I think that all the documents that a should provide are sufficient.

Is it worth submitting a visa application for my father?

Many thanks

Yuo need to show his ties to his home country, that is where most people fall short, does he get a pension, where does that go, can you not show proof of this as his income?

Thanks Prem! He can show a monthly proof of income of around 550 GBP. Is this enough to be eligible for a family visit visa?

There is no minimum/maximum limit to be eligible, you just have to convince\prove to the ECO that you meet the criteria and are genuine. Will you be financing the trip or your father? As I sponspored my in laws completely.
