Hi Kam07, I think the process is taking a bit longer for applications in June. I also have travel booked on 22nd July and waiting for the OCI which I applied on 03rd June. Status is still Under Process. Most probably I will have to apply for E-visa. Please post if your status changes.

Hi Kam07 and Tom007, Very True , June application are delayed, i called VFS on the premium number and they they told me , it can take 6 to 8 weeks ,I have travel booked on 3rd Aug- fingers crossed or else i will apply for E-Visa. Please update if your status changes-

Can one of you elaborate about this E-visa please.
What is the process and timeline of availing one.
Also, while you were waiting for the OCI, don't you need your passports to either apply for this E-Visa or even to travel?

HI Friends,
I am going to India for 34 Days so I couldn't able to apply E-visa. My children got OCI lifelong visa but it is in the old passport. I don't know is there any problem traveling with old passport lifelong visa.

Hi Kam07, Yes I agree it's frustrating. I was hoping to have my OCI process complete by this time but it's taking longer than usual. Will have to apply for E-visa for myself and family. Lucky that our stay is less than 30 days. The qsn you asked regarding travelling with OCI in old passport; having gone thru some forums it seems many ppl have done it without issues. But following is mandatory to carry "old passport with U sticker", "new passport" and "OCI book".

Hi friends,

I went to submit the application for my newborn in the London Honslow office this morning and the person after taking the photocopies of all the documents had returned my originals including the passport back. When I enquired the person said that if they need it they will give me a call.

Is this new, or did this happen to anybody else?
I am worried if this would make the process longer if they ask me to submit the originals again later.

Hi softsword, During the first stage of the OCI application process they don't keep the passport and it's returned straightaway after the application at VFS. For my kids application born in UK, they took originals of the Birth certificate and my marriage certificate. It was returned to us on the self addressed special delivery envelope. Did they take the self addressed envelope from you?

Yes Tom.
They did not receive any documents from me.
Even the birth certificate and the marriage certificates are returned to me then and there.
She returned back the self addressed envelope too.
Thats why i am bit worried if they might ask me back.

Last night around 11:40 pm i received a text message saying my application has been dispatched to the high commission of india for further processing. And a email with the same content at the same time.

Today at 10am, I received another email from oci-helpdesk saying
"OCI-Application received and is under process."

I cannot figure at what stage my application is now.

I heard that they started in person collection after the oci card and passport is ready, so once you goto VFS to submit passport check with them if that option is available and quicker than home delivery.
