I think a 100 days is the earliest some have received a response. I'm at 90 days now and am just going to focus on enjoying the rest of August. Too easy to get pulled into the waiting game...

Hi everyone, for some time I have been a silent watcher of this forum, which has been immensely helpful. Finally submitted my application a couple of weeks ago but understand that I could be waiting up to 6 months.

I knew that I needed to request my passport back asap, but was wondering whether it's necessary to wait for a confirmation email (which, in most cases, seems to take about a month after submitting your application) or just 10 working days? I'm travelling in October and want to leave enough time to get my passport back. Thanks in advance.

Timeline so far (EU14 national):
Documents sent: 27.07.2016
Documents received: 28.07.2016
Payment taken: 29.07.2016
Confirmation email received: not yet

I requested my passports back as soon as I submitted the application; however, it seems to have taken quite longer than everyone else to actually receive them. I suspect asking from for them early doesn't help as they need several weeks just for somebody to verify them.

Hello guys!

So, I just recently submitted my application though a consultant. I am an EU citizen (and American citizen), but submitted on the basis of my EU passport (Polish). I am currently self-employed, but for the 5 year qualifying period, I was PAYE employed. Please see my timeline below, so far.

Quick question, if anyone would be so kind - I've noticed that a lot of people have requested their passports back.. does this affect the application at all? do you have to return it once you come back from travels? is there a better time than others to request it back? what is the best way to do this?

Thanks so much! and good luck to all those that have been waiting a while!!

Hi elwael,
when i submitted my application, I was actually worried, cause i had some gaps in employment while studying (3 months max maybe), then, i only applied for WRS once, after 2 months working for my first employer. When i changed the job the next month, i didnt apply for a new one (meaning i was working without permit till april 2011 (6 months in total). Maybe they didnt even take this year (my first year since i arrived to UK) into account as you probably need to prove only your last 5 years of residence (i sent documentation for 6).
I sent all the employment letters/contracts, all P45s, P60s (had only 3), most of my Payslips, Letters from HMRC, Degree Certificate, Driving Licence Counterpart, some invoices (since i am now self-employed) and Bank statements showing particular payments being received, and few letters for each year proving my address (either from bank, HMRC, NHS or similar..)

I am surprised too, it took less then expected. But also very happy, of course!

I would advise to only request the passport back, as they might still need your other documentation, and it could delay the whole process if you request it all.

Hello Everyone,

I have a question regarding payment details page. As I understand the safest way to pay is using "Postal Order" as if you pay by card there is a chance that transaction can be declined. When I pay by "Postal Order" should I leave all fields from 7 to 12 empty?

Thanks you.

Hey guys - New to this and noticing that a lot of people have requested their passports back...
I've been told that this may affect the application. Is that true? If not, is there a better time than others to request it back (i.e. wait for confirmation/biometrics). Do you have to return it once you come back from travels? What is the best way to do this?

Thanks so much! and good luck to all those that have been waiting a while!!

That's odd. I was told that I would get a biometrics letter soon by my consultant. Are you absolutely sure? If so, I'll query it with him.

Thanks!

Congrats! Was that PR date July or August? Sound like there could be quite a backlog this summer!
