Does asylum seekers have the right to work in NZ?

Hi,

Does asylum seekers have the right to work while their claims being reviewed in New Zealand?

I can enter New Zealand without a visa and I'll seek asylum after entering. If I claimed my asylum, will I be issued a work permit or a work visa? Or basically I won't be allowed to work! I need to work to assist myself financially.

To work you would need a work permit.
