Second Biometric letter- What happens if not attended

Post by vyas16 » Wed Dec 21, 2016 3:47 pm

Hi, Could anyone please answer my query related to second biometric letter received.

I have applied for naturalisation as a British Citizen and I have received second letter from Home Office asking me to attend Biometrics. They have given me 10 days to do this. I am really busy with work and some other personal things going on. I need to travel 40-50 miles to attend Biometrics and seems like I can't make it.

What happens if I do not attend biometrics. Apart from rejecting my application as Invalid, will Home office impose any penalties or sanctions?

Simply a rejection as invalid.

You need to weigh up how important this is for you. Most people will make a plan. Surely there is a PO with biometric capability near your work??

Many Thanks CR001 for your reply. There are post offices near my work/home but none of them do biometrics. Closest one is 40 miles away and possibly not going to make it.

As long as it is NOT going to cause problems for future applications, it is acceptable to me.

I don't think if that will be the case, I understand if the applications Rejected due to non submission of Biometric information, a deduction of 25 GBP is made and rest if the fee is returned. Fee is not refunded in case of Refusal. I have surely seen it written somewhere but not able to remember where.

Found the link to the HO doc clearly stating that fee will be refunded if Biometric or correct fee not provided:

If the full fee or biometric data is not provided, then the application will be rejected as invalid. The application
will not be considered and the fee will be refunded less an administration fee of £25

My error and you are in fact correct.
Although the guide states:
"Fee for handling and processing the application. None of this is refundable if the application is refused
or withdrawn
."

It then qualifies:
INVALID APPLICATIONS
If the full fee or biometric data is not provided then the application will be
rejected as invalid. The application will not be considered and the fee will be
refunded less an administration fee of £25.
