Tier 2 extension - 2 year or 3 year

Post by asif2133 » Fri Dec 30, 2016 6:05 pm

hi people,

i will be applying for tier 2 extension after my initial 3 year tier 2 visa expires. i was thinking if i should apply for 2 year extension or 3 year extension? as i could apply for IDL after 5 years so i was thinking to apply only for 2 years extension as it would save me £200 on the nhs health surcharge.
what do you guys recommend.

thanks

What's IDL? And according to your recent timeline post you've submitted an application for an EEA2 Permit :?:

I meant ILR. Yes i do have eea residence as well but due to the brexit uncertinty and shorter period to be able to apply for ilr i.e. 2 more years i am thinking about extending my tier 2 leave as well. I need sugestion to whether apply for 2 year extension or 3 year.

It will depend on the length of the CoS your sponsor issues.

I don't understand why you are making an issue out of this. It makes no difference other than cost of IHS which one you apply for.

If for any reason your ILR in the future is refused and your new 2 year ext Tier 2 has expired, you will have a problem.

There are no hidden rules, all relevant rules and regulations and legislation is readily available in public domain.
And all the advice you have had up until now has come from ladies.

There is no difference in the application fee. you will only save £200 from the IHS. thinking of how important an extra 1 year might be in the future, I'd advise you apply for the three years extension. You can apply for ILR after 5 years and if you ever need more time after the 5 years then you have 1 year to do that.
it is a simple process even if you want 1 year you will still pay the same application fee.
