Hello everyone,
I applied for my SET(LR) application yesterday through premium service at SHeffield visas and immigration centre. I have successfully received my ILR approval letter and will be receiving my biometric card shortly through my solicitor.
To give an overview, I had applied for a 10 years long residency visa which includes student visa, PSW visa, Tier 2 General visa and a Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa. During this time I was caught out driving without an insurance which was quite stupid obv and was convicted guilty by court with a penalty of 4 points and 6 months ban. I paid a fine of 350 pounds after submitting my mitigating circumstances letter and explained my situation well to the magistrates. My license was revoked and I have however passed my practical and theory again.
The reason why i am commenting is that prior to my application I was discouraged a lot by other people when I had mentioned my conviction in front of them and that I would definitely need a solicitor's advise if I wanted to stand a chance which I did. I explained my case to the solictor where I had explained that besides this driving conviction there is nothing shoddy of my immigration history. I was advised to keep my application straight as this was a 10 yrs residency route and if I had accomplished the basic requirements like, not exceeded 540 days outside uk, not exceeded 180 days in a single visit, no serious crimes, lifein the uk test.
The documents that i had submitted were
1. application form with 2 passport pics
2. all the passports covering my 10 years of residency
3. all visas covering 10 years residency
4. Uk Bachelors degree
5. Ielts test certificate (not required though!!)
6. Life in the UK test certificate
7. driving conviction letter
Thats about it.
I gave in my application at 1045am, biometrics done by 1120am, approved by 1230pm. During this whole time I was just asked one question and that was 'When did you take your photographs?' THATS IT!!.. I would encourage everyone to make their ILR long residency application once they have completed their 10 years lawfully and not to load their application with unnecessary documents giving the home office officials to suggest otherwise. By all means go to a solicitor but look out for ones who are trying to extort money from us.
