A1 or A2

Hi guys
I want to apply spouse visa from Pakistan for my wife and daughter.
As documents in preparing stage but my solicitor told must do before 01/05/2017 as from 01/05/2017 it is going to change the requirements of English test for spouse visa from outside of country..It will become A2 instead of A1.
As my wife has passed A1
My understanding is this change would apply only those who apply from inside UK for extension.
Could you clarify plesse...
Furthermore if I apply online so would it be considered date of application date or the date when biometrics given in Lahore.
If I apply before 01/05/2017 would it be ok to submit A1?

A1 if applying for entry clearance from abroad.

A2 if applying for an extension within the UK.

A2 is ONLY for applications WITHIN the UK from 1st May. It is NOT applicable to applications from outside the UK, which requires A1.
