Need some advice?

I have some questions here
1. What is this contracting umbrella companies. How shud we get into touch with them. I am moving to Uk next month end. I am in contact with some consultant but never got any call from these umbrella companies. Please send me a list on my personal id if u have any?

2. Do we require some references in UK if we are offered some job.

3. How is the level of interview which takes place in UK, Like in bangalore there are lot of people with relevant skills, so in interview they ask lot of indepth questions rather than basic questions.

3. what if some guy struggle to get a IT job. what job(may be parttime) he can do for his survival in UK and at the same time keep searching for IT job.I asked this question as i have lot of relatives in UK but they can help me in other jobs but not in IT(as they are not in IT).

I have asked these question as there might be some guys in HSMP who also might be interested in these questions?
