Oci documents- letter from employer

Post by Ocihopeful2017 » Sun May 07, 2017 2:22 pm

Hi
The VFS website mentions a letter from the employer with job description as a mandatory document. Is it really needed? Has anyone been asked for it? If so, do you have a format in which it needs to be.

Also is the revoked Indian passport needed?

Any help on the actual documents needed from anyone recently is highly appreciated. Thank you.

I was at VFS Goswell Road today for OCI appointment and I wasn't allowed to submit the application as I didn't have the employment letter. I mentioned that I am director of the ltd company and they asked for an accountant letter.

On the other hand, I had to wait for almost 20 days to get OCI appointment and now this.

If you are unemployed, either you can take any Benefits letter or you can just tell the VFS staff that you are unemployed. Not everyone getting OCI card is employed. It is okay, as per rules Unemplyed people are eligible for OCI.

Woman applicants, if unemployed, can choose the option of "Housewife" in the OCI application. Then they dont need to submit any other proof of unemployment.

Lets say, employment proof is desirable but not mandatory documentation for OCI card as per Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Not everyone getting Foreign Naturalisation and then applying for OCI is thru Employment route.

I recently enquired regarding unemployed people getting a OCI for myself @ VFS Boswell on the day I submitted my surrender of Indian passport application.

I've been unemployed since 3rd year of my T-2 D visa.

The lady confirmed I need to submit my current account statements, as people in certain job roles are not issued OCI card. The jobs she mentioned were government jobs, media, defence, or any government contractors, don't know if she missed security or it doesn't matter.
Don't misconstrue my views for professional immigration advice, just trying to give back to a community that helped me through my journey.

For surrender of passport I provided 100gm

For first time return of documents ( 99% of time it's your surrender certificate only) so again 100gm is fine.

For second time when you submit your passport, depending on weight of passports and OCI booklet I suggest 100gm again.

For Surrender Certificate, they return Renounced Indian Passport plus Surrender Certificate.

For OCI, they return OCI Booklet and British Passport.

Weight 100 gm should be enough I think.

Oh you mean to say Your name was correct but when they wrote Son of or Daughter of , instead of your father's name, they wrote your name again. In that case, this is a mistake. You should contact them for rectifying the mistake. Normally VFS staff doublecheck application, passport, citizenship certificate and such mistakes are rare.
