Post by vin1983 » Sun May 21, 2017 12:04 am

Hi - I am in a very difficult situation. Have applied for british passport with my naturalisation certificate and indian passport. I need to travel to india for an emergency, now I dont have either my indian passport or my new british passport.

What should I do? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Wouldn't the Indian passport be invalid as soon as the holder lost Indian citizenship (in becoming naturalised British?).
This is not intended to be legal or professional advice in any jurisdiction.

Yes, but an Indian citizen has a grace period of 90 days to use the passport without incurring any penalties. The 90 days start from the date of the citizenship ceremony.

You wont be able to collect in person. They will send it by post.

Your difficulty will be reentering the UK without a BRO or the airline permitting you to fly.
