Why not University Fee at Local Rate for HSMP dependents?

Post by jami » Sun Mar 02, 2008 11:24 am

As per HSMP guidance notes education and health do not come under the ambit of public funds.Whereas as per information available on websites of UK universities etc local fee would be charged to foreign nationals only if they are resident in UK for last 3 years and has indefinite leave to remain in UK.
This appears to in conflict with guidance and also amounts to discrimination beside violation of EC human rights.
This warrants lobbying as well as legal challenge.
Please high light this problem where ever you can.

No it doesn't. Just suck it up and deal with it.

Jami,

I was wondering if that applies to HSMP holders as well? Just out of curiosity.

UK and EU nationals don't automatically pay the local rate either.

I hope you campaign for them too.

I am in UK under HSMP and wanted to study and was asked to pay fee meant for international student which could not be afforded. When education is not within public funds than international fee should not be demanded. This topic is worth discussion.

You are not citizen or permanent resident so you are not entitled to local fees. It has nothing to do with public funds so no need to discuss it or start painting protest signs. You don't have a leg to stand on.
