Misspelt Place of Birth and Thank you

Post by sagan » Tue Dec 12, 2017 10:18 am

Firstly, I want to say a fantastic thank you to everyone on Immigration Boards that helped me on my long, almost 7 years, journey through two applications of Tier 1 visas, ILR, including a premium upgrade and finally naturalisation and citizenship.
To hold a British passport and be a citizen of this great country is a privilege and an honour, and I really could not have done it without these boards for advice and support!
Thank you!

Now, my passport was received on 02 December, however they misspelt my Place of Birth, by one wrong letter. Do I need to get a new passport printed? I would prefer not to, as I need to it travel as well as a few other things and having to invalidate it would be difficult at the moment. Can I wait until it expires? The town of birthday is obvious, except for the misspelt letter.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

LOL, at least if it was 'Joburg' you could get away with it.

You will need to get it corrected. You should be able to get it done fairly quickly.

What you can do is fill a new passport application form and send it off with the wrong passport, they will re-print the passport for you free of charge, as long as the mistake is not from you while completing the form. You can choose a day service option with a small fee.
