This is 20 months which I have applied to be naturalized in the UK for myself and my two sons which one of them born in the UK and still waiting for approval.I contacted with them and they replied that they have asked some organization and waiting for their response.I asked my local MP to contact with them and they told the same thing to my local MP as well.I don't know how long do we have to wait and what else can we do about this matter.
Today is 07/09/2017 and after 2 years still I am waiting for the HO approval letter or even a result positive or negative noting at all so far.I made a complaint to Ombudsman against HO and waiting for their investigation and hopefully it will cause a result. : :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry: :cry:
Today is 14/12/2017 and this is more than 26 months which I applied for a Naturalization for myself and my family and still waiting for a decision.This is 5 months which I made a complaint to Ombudsman and no any result.Last update is two days ago I received a letter from HO which they asked me to attend for an interview in Liverpool on February 2018.They just mentioned that the interview is regarding my outstanding Naturalization application and they haven't asked for any document.To be honest I don't know what will happen and what is that interview regarding to.I will be thankful if anybody knows about the interview and got any idea and replay to my comment please.Thanks

Sorry to hear about the stressful process that you are going to, sorry to be unable to reply usefully, but my advice to relax and see what they ask you in the interview. Don't overthink it, as there is no indication of wht they want to talk to you about.

If I was in your situation I would take a lawyer with me to the interview. Because they gave you no clue why they want to interview you, I have never heard of such interviews before.

I think only the passport office when you apply for passport requests an interview but not in all cases, the reason they give is just to identify that you are the rightful person who entered the UK those many years ago etc and not some impersonator.

But home office interview perhaps to check by your face to face response if you are lying. But I can't think what exactly it could be did they say you had to attend alone, take the an immigration lawyer with you.

Do you have any inkling of what the problems are?

Hi Guys
I had my Naturalization interview 2 days ago and it took more than 3 hours.I am wondering that they asked me about my asylum case which 14 years ago I applied as an asylum seekers in the UK and then they refused my case and I made an appeal against the HO refusal in the Court and the Judge accepted my case and allowed me to stay in The UK and the HO had 21 days to appeal against that decision but they didn't so my status changed to a Refugee 11 years ago and they gave me 5 years limited visa then after 5 years I became a permanent resident in the UK and HO issued a BRP card.I applied for Naturalization on October 2015 and after 28 months of my Naturalization application and after 14 years of my asylum application which been successful in the court,the HO interviewed me and asked me about my case again which I gave them 14 years ago without telling me what is my interview regarding too.
After the interview they told me that they will send the interview's record to the Naturalization team and then they will decide about my case and they don't know how long it may takes for the decision.

Hi Max,

thanks for the response, like you I cannot understand why they had to query about your entry after 14 years and granting you PR.
I hope this interview would've cleared the doubts they had and they will process your naturalization sooner now
I have been waiting for over 15 months now! I dont have any issues with entry or legal status.
I cannot understand they are holding my application back!
I did a PAP already, didnt help, I will be taking legal actions to challenge HO
thanks

Hi Jegz82
As you may notice from my past comments, I tried all the way and finally I made a complaint against HO to Ombudsman which resulted the interview but after 8 months Ombudsman gave me their investigation result and told me that the HO done everything right and there is no fail by HO.So as you can notice nobody can do anything regarding a delay on processing an application but just wait, wait and wait.My suggestion is to wait and don't contact them to much and let them to finalise the process. Good luck to you and all of the members in this forum.

Would it be an option to withdraw the application completely and then re-apply later on?

I don't think it will help.If there is an error nothing can clear the error until HO investigate and fix the error or by a court order.I already paid about £3500 for myself and my family and if I withdraw my application all of our application will be withdrawn and it is very difficult for me to pay that much even more again.

Hi Max,

I did not take the legal action, I only did a pre-action protocol in January and they just gave a standard excuse response for that. I was confused as to take a proper legal action.
Approval letter eventually came through last week!
Only think I did recently is I changed my driving license to my current address, not sure if that has helped!
Good luck to you mate, I got a feeling that they must be going through all old pending applications.
Thanks

Hi Max,
Pre-action protocol, is a document/form you send to someone before you actually taking a legal action.
Its basically indicating your intention to take legal action, so you list your concerns and put for a resolution you are expecting from , Pre-action protocol is a powerpowerful tool, but UKBA are using the good character requirements as an excuse to not to commit to your suggestions to resolve the case

So I did the below
Section - The details of the matter being challenged;

Application for British Citizenship was made on 07/11/2016, Home office is yet to make a decision on my appilciation for over 12 months.
1- Home office has failed to make a decision within published service standards of 6 months
2 - Home office has failed to make a decision within a reasonable time frame.

and for section The details of the action that you want the Home Office to take;

Failure to make a decision within a reasonable time frame due to omission/misplacement of my application has heavily impacted my day to day normal life, I'm under severe stress and not being being to travel oversess to meet my relatives or for vacation, as I have to be in UK for over 12 months to respond to any correspondence Home Office may have.

Therefore I request home office to locate my application and process it within next 8 weeks, if that is not possible I request home office to set out the extact and resonable time frame they will be able to make a decision

As mentioned before, UKBA did not commit to my suggestions, but Im not sure if this helped me to get the case worker to look into my case bit more actively

Thanks

So I did the below
Section - The details of the matter being challenged;

Application for British Citizenship was made on 07/11/2016, Home office is yet to make a decision on my appilciation for over 12 months.
1- Home office has failed to make a decision within published service standards of 6 months
2 - Home office has failed to make a decision within a reasonable time frame.

and for section The details of the action that you want the Home Office to take;

Thanks
