I had the same query last week. If it is Ok for you to park slightly earlier say 200yards you can park on the street. The building Vista Centre also has the parking with payment, however I didn't park, so not sure if it becomes full soon. Better call VFS & ask.

Susheel,

I have visited the VFS centre in Hounslow twice and parked on Beaver's lane. You can also opt to use the paid parking inside The Vista Centre parking but when I tried it was far down behind the building, so I came out and parked on Beaver's lane which is a residential area without any parking restrictions.

You could also try on Chinchilla Drive if you find a spot there. Both Beavers Lane and Chinchilla Drive are a couple of minutes walk and you can save a few quids. :)

Also, if you are looking for detailed information about the Indian passport surrender process, please do check out this guide which I wrote based on my experience with obtaining surrender certificate in Aug this year.

Can someone who has recently applied please clarify the process?

Do we need to fill an online application for passport surrender along with appointment?

http://passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlinePr ... procFormSc

or do we need take application form and declaration on VFS website with an appointment?
@ram4uintot

I applied and obtained my surrender certificate a month back.
You need to book a prior appointment and take the application form along with supporting documents to VFS and submit your application in person.

You can check the in-depth guide here: weblink removed by moderator

Hi guys
i got few questions if anyone can answer?
1) What should be OCI Registration Number when getting appointment for Surrender of Passport
2) while scheduling an appointment via https://www.vfsvisaservice.com/IHC-UK-A ... eUVLcp3A4= it doesn't matter what service you choose, as Form seems to be same?
3) Glasgow seems to available option as VAC. Does it mean both surrender and OCI application can be done in Glasgow? I am only aware of VFS in Glasgow, otherwise Indian Consulate is only in Edinburgh? It means VFS can handle both?

Thanks

In place of OCI registration number, you need to put your Passport number. The India Passport number.

As far as the list of Documents is concerned:-

1) filled Application Form (Download and take print out), fill it with Black Ball-point Pen
2)filled Declaration Form
3) Original Passport
4) Self attested copies of all used pages plus information page of Passport
5) Take original British Passport and original Citizenship certificate with you . Give them self attested photocopy.
6)2 passport sized photos. Remember that India size is different
7)Special Delivery Envelope.
8) Debit card for Payment

Hi Board Members,

So I received my British Citizenship today and now have to start the process of OCI card.

Can someone pls share the step by step process thread or else explain here? I bet others have asked the very same questions. The details on VFS site is in parts and so I want to confirm from experienced folks.

I have already taken the appointment to surrended indian passport. But i have no idea of what all documents i will need to take and if I will need to fill an application form, etc etc etc?

Any guidance will be really helpful.

Best,
Ankit

First you will need to do Surrender of India Citizenship process and once you get that certificate, then you can do OCI. Just 3 comments above your post, all documents required for Surrender procedure are mentioned. All the Best.

Would really appreciate if someone could review the following:

My only Indian passport expired in February 2017. I have been naturalised as of 7th March 2018 and would be obtaining my naturalisation certificate and British passport shortly. I intend to apply for surrendering my Indian passport after receiving my British passport next month. Kindly confirm if the following documents would be sufficient.

Cover Letter affirming no Indian passport applied or required since February 2017
Duly filled application form
Printed & signed copy of the declaration form
Original Indian Passport (Expired passport)
Self-attested photocopy of Indian passport (All used pages)
Two recent 50 mm * 50 mm size photographs.
Self-attested photocopy of the current British / Foreign Passport
Self-attested photocopy of British / Foreign Naturalisation certificate
Special Delivery Envelope x 2

For my wife's surrender of Indian passport (Application made in representation by myself):

Cover Letter affirming I would represent her on the day of the appointment.
Duly filled application form
Printed & signed copy of the declaration form
Original Indian Passport (1 Expired & 1 Active Passport)
Self-attested photocopy of Indian passport (All used pages)
Two recent 50 mm * 50 mm size photographs.
Self-attested photocopy of the current British / Foreign Passport
Self-attested photocopy of British / Foreign Naturalisation certificate
Special Delivery Envelope x 2

Error in Surrender certificate

Post by Devil81 » Sat Apr 14, 2018 9:43 am

Hi guys,

Last week my wife submitted an application to surrender her passport and yesterday we received her Surrender certificate and renounced passport.

I've spotted an error on her Indian passport number in the certificate. How do I contact VFS/HCI to correct the error and receive a new certificate.

I have also checked the application form to see if we made any error on the application form. Believe it's an error on their side so hopefully there will be no charge for the amendment including the postage.

I found these email addresses on VFS website Info.ppt-Consularuk@vfshelpline.com and info.inuk@vfshelpline.com. Looking to email them and scan the certificate.

Are there any other email addresses where I can send my query?

I am not willing to make another personal visit to VFS.

Thanks!!

Let us know whether you managed to get correction of Indian Passport number. Did they charge any fees ?

It looks good. They will need only 1 Special Delivery Envelope, not 2. Also its better to take original British Passport and Original Naturalisation Certificate with you to VFS office for their verification although they will keep self attested photocopies only.
