How Soon can I apply to extend my Tier2 Dependant visa

Post by ourehman » Tue Feb 06, 2018 12:58 pm

Hi,

I am and ILR holder and switched to ILR from the Category on Tier 2 (General).

My wife is still a Tier 2 dependent, and we have been married for 3 years.

Her leave to remain expires in August 2018, and we want to extend her visa right now (Feb 2018) so we can plan some travel later this year.

A friend mentioned that I cant renew her visa right now, Is there a rule that an extension has to be within 28 days of expiry for a Tier2 (dependant)?

Thanks,
O

The extension is granted for a period of 3 years. I think extensions may be applied for at any time before expiry of leave. However, by applying sooner, the period avaliable to apply for ILR is shorten.

Thanks, she's only got like 1 year 7 months until she's eligible for ILR so that sounds great.
