I had submitted my application to London Embassy June02 2017.
Additional documents been asked on 2nd Sept. and submitted on 22nd Sept 2017
Since then no result. I had called many time to them- same feedback I got.. under review....
I think.. its all about luck ...can anybody advise how to contact London embassy, I hope they have some news for me... I have tried email option-but no response received... Thanks

I have just had my application sent back because there was no name on my Grandmother's birth cert (despite it being sent to me from the Register Office) and they want an original baptismal certificate - we are talking 1894, does anyone have any ideas?
Got the baptismal certificate for my Grandmother (Mary has changed to May by the time she married my Grandfather) and the 'application is proceeding' according to the DFA officer in Dublin.. so fingers crossed I will hear something positive soon!

All these recent updates are very exciting. My applications were received in London on 17/10/17 and I'd heard nothing till last week (Monday 26/02/18) when I received an email from Dublin asking for some clarification on my witness. She is a police officer but we hadn't included a business card or official stamp with the applications. They asked that she send me an email from work (i.e. a police address) which I could then forward on to them to confirm. This appears to have been accepted ok so I am on pins and needles now awaiting further information! It's just nice to know that someone is looking at it, but it's quite early (just under 5 months) so not sure if it could still be another month.

Pretty similar story to LuluBlue76 above me.

Submitted sept 15th 2017 to London Embassy
Received september 17th 2017 London Embassy

I then heard nothing until Feb 7th Dublin office emailed me for work contact email address of my witness which I emailed back the next day.

I have heard nothing since. I was originally told the turn around was approximately 6 months or so so fingers crossed.

Hi all - as an update to my timeline, just over a week ago I prodded London embassy again and I was told that my application was in advanced stage in Dublin!

Timeline since my first post was ages ago:

4 Sept 2017: submitted online application
6 Sept 2017: submitted paperwork to London embassy
22 Feb 2018: advised that application was in advanced stage in Dublin

Who knows how long it will take, but I'm hoping maybe another week - anyone know roughly how long theirs took from 'advanced stage'?

SO EXCITING! :D
Hi again all,

As a FINAL update - I have received confirmation that my application has been approved and London embassy is waiting on Dublin to forward all the documents back to them. I don't know what date my FBR certificate says because I don't have it yet, but as far as I'm concerned I'm in the clear! It's been just about six months, and I am super pleased/relieved! Good luck to everyone still waiting.

I'm confused. Am I the only one who submitted the application and paperwork directly to Dublin? The application instructed me to send it to "Consular Section, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Foreign Births Registration Section." Has anyone else here done that? Is the process any faster?

I sent everything in on December 5 and got an email a couple of days later letting me know it was received, so I'm not worried yet - just curious.

Mabelhank,

I did the same as you, submitted straight to Dublin, and nothing but a "we received it" email since. I submitted the first week of January 2018.

I think straight to Dublin submissions are due to our submitting from the US.

Looking forward to hearing future updates!

Hi putoluto,

That's good to know. I thought that was the case as well (straight to Dublin if submitting from the US), but I kept seeing people with American flag icons talking about the London embassy and it made me wonder...

I'll be sure to post when I hear anything more so you'll have an idea what to expect. You submitted yours not too long after I submitted mine!

An update from the Embassy today after I emailed them.

Documents received 19/09/17 at the London Embassy.

14/03/18 - Application recently sent to Dublin and at an advanced stage.

No interaction in between, so hopefully nearly there :)

I am having trouble getting a witness with a business card or official stamp, has anyone used a notary public in the USA as the witness to signing the documents? On the official application a notary is not listed but on one of the official fbr pages it is listed.

I applied in late September 2017 and finally heard back today, in late March 2018

My grandfather changed his name from Eleazar to Jack ...but not by deed poll! (because 'things were different back 40 years ago' etc) The name on his birth certificate therefore does not match the one on his driving license or passport

They asked if they have any evidence of the name change, don't know what to do???

Hello Everyone!!

I submitted my daughters application(6 month old baby) Last nov 2017.
Feb 2018 asked for additional documents.
Mar 2018 submitted the documents.
And now they told us to wait for another 3-4 months for decision.
I wonder what else do they need to check that will take that long?
I know its just 6 months altogether from the date of application, and for us it will take 2-3 months longer than 6 months if we need to wait for another 3-4 months again. What sort of things do they need to check??? I am hoping that our baby will not turn 1 year old when she gets to Ireland.

Recommend you to phone the number at the foot of their email and talk to your caseworker. You won't be the first with this kind of issue and they won't be deliberately obstructive. Good luck!

Same is happening with me as well. I had submit all docs. in 2nd June. sept 10 they have asked additional documents and 22nd sept I have submitted and from then I am just waiting. as per Embassy, 6 months time period starts after submitting all correct documentation. so I am counting days. Good luck to you as well

Did they ask for additional information via e-mail? Or regular mail?
