Can student's dependant attend a primary state school in the UK?

Hi

A friend of mine is going to come to the UK to study in a university for a couple of years.
His home country is not in EU. He is going to have a student visa.

He has a family.
He is not sure if his dependant child would be able to attend the (primary) state school in the UK.

I had a look at the government web sites and could not find this information.

Could you please help?

Yes, they can. Presumably the spouse and children will apply for Tier 4 dependent visas.
