TIER 5 Ended

Post by canadarox » Wed Apr 18, 2018 12:15 am

Hi!

I recently had my Tier 5 YMS visa end. I had a job lined up as well and was going to get sponsored under the TIER 2 visa. However, with the current influx of applications for certificates of sponsorships it is unlikely I can apply through this route.

Any other options? Or is my chance of being in the UK gone down the drain?

Thanks

Do you have any grandparents born in the UK? Being from Canada you'd be eligible for an Ancestry visa if so.

Other than that there aren't many options. You could study a degree in the UK then try to switch to tier 2 following.

Out of curiosity,

I was on a tier 4 and moved to tier 5. Could I then switch to tier 2?
I'm guessing that answer is no. But just wondering is it possible.

No that's not possible. You can switch from tier 4 to tier 2 while your visa is still valid but you can't switch to anything from tier 5 YMS.

Not quite accurate. There are visas which are non PBS that a Tier 5 YMS can switch to if they meet the requirements, i.e. FLR(M).
