Confused regarding Tier 2 visa renewal!!

Post by Jayjolly » Tue Apr 24, 2018 10:57 am

Hi,

My current Tier 2 visa was issued on 2 Jun 2015, and dependent visa was issued on 9 Jun 2015 and all is going to expire on 19 Jun 2018. On my visa my entry stamp to the UK was 18 Jun 2015. My dependents visa entry stamp was 15 Jul 2015. To be eligible for ILR I need to "complete 5 years".

My questions are:

1. Can I renewal my visa and dependents visa for a further 2 years or does it need to be 3 years?

2. What date should I be applying for the visa renewal?

3. What does "complete 5 years" mean to be eligible for ILR? Is it from date i entered the country or date from when my first visa was issued?

4. If I extend my visa for 2 years will the expiry on the new visa show 19 Jun 2020? And if so will i still be eligible for ILR?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

J

Either but it depends on how long your CoS is issued/valid for.
2. What date should I be applying for the visa renewal?
You need to apply before your current visa expires.
3. What does "complete 5 years" mean to be eligible for ILR? Is it from date i entered the country or date from when my first visa was issued?
You can apply for ILR based on your initial visa issue date.
4. If I extend my visa for 2 years will the expiry on the new visa show 19 Jun 2020? And if so will i still be eligible for ILR?
It will be dated from day it is approved and for the required length but not exceeding a total of 6 years on Tier 2.

Cos will be valid for 3 years so can I apply for a 2 year visa renewal?

You need to apply before your current visa expires.

What would you suggest would be a good time to apply based on the dates I've given? Should I apply at the end of May or first week of June? I just want to make sure that if I apply for the 2 year renewal that I will not be less than 5 years to be eligible for ILR.

If the CoS is valid for 3 years, you have to apply for a 3 year visa.

Makes no difference if you have to apply for a 3 year visa.

I have a 3 year Restriced CoS issued to me when I started with the company. Can my sponsor renew this?

They have to issue you a UCoS for an in country extension assuming they are still a valid sponsor and their licence is in date.
