RCoS Unclear of Points? Shortage Occupation list...

Post by Northmole » Tue Apr 24, 2018 7:34 pm

Hello all, I've read a lot of info on this board over the last few months, but new to posting. Forgive me if I have posted in the wrong topic area.
Over 5 months ago I received a job offer from the NHS, who have been attempting to obtain a visa for me, for the last 4 months. Denied or refused every month. I have never been able to find out my points score but it is definitely coded as a shortage position with a salary of 42k, English 1st language. I'm just trying to find some hope for being successful at some point in the next few months. My kids will need schools etc. Anyone know how to figure the points? Thank you for your help.

What is your actual job title? Please note that not all roles in a SOC code are automatically classed as shortage.

SOC = Standard Occupation Code (2136 or 2115 etc).

Your SOC is likely 2136 but as you are being sponsored by the NHS, it would probably not be a shortage occupation.

2136 on the shortage occupation list is very specific, which is why you have been asked for your SOC.

2136 Programmers and software development professionals Only the following jobs in this occupation code:

Senior developer employed by a qualifying company, where the job requires a person with a minimum of five years’ relevant experience and demonstrable experience of having led a team.

The following jobs in visual effects and 2D/3D computer animation for the film, television or video games sectors:

The following jobs in the electronics system industry:

It has been submitted as 2136, repeatedly. Not understanding why a shortage position doesn't seem to be making any difference in my efforts.

Is your SOC and job in the quoted bit I have already mentioned. It is not all 2136 jobs that fall under the shortage occupation list.

Hi,

can anyone please tell me what were the minimum points required to get the rcos application a success in April, 2018? My employer told me that my rcos was rejected, as I did not achieve the minimum points for April allocation. I will be joining as a graduate analyst with 24k salary. Is there any chances, my application for rcos will get approved in May allocation?

Will really appreciate your replies?

Thank you
