FATHER INLAW FILLED FOR GREEN CARD FOR MY WIFE WHEN SHE WAS SINGLE

Post by Ola2 » Tue May 01, 2018 4:47 pm

Hi everyone, please, could someone help me with the following question.

My father inlaw (the father of my wife), who is a USA citizen, filled for my wife who is over 21 years old to join him in the USA 5 years ago. This happened when my wife was still single.

My question is this : when the USA Embassy calls my wife to come and collect her visa/green card, would i, the husband be issued visa same time as my wife in order to migrate to USA with my wife.

Thanks for your anticipated help.

I would be surprised if you also get a US visa when your wife gets hers.

I am recently married to a US citizen and I would need to apply for a visa to live there. As you probably know, the visa process takes 9-12 months.

However if a US citizen is a UK resident the option for Direct Consular Filing (DCF) is a much quicker process - maybe 3-6 months. This is so as DCF is filed with the US Embassy in London rather than the Visa Centre in USA.

Good luck with what ever you do.
