Will my UK Visa refusal affect my Australian dependent visa

I was refused a Sole representative visa for U.K. But there is no stamp on my passport as it was refused after the first interview itself.
Now my wife is going to study in Australia and I am planning to be a dependent on her student visa.My question is :
1. Should I mention my UK Visa refusal while applying for dependent visa? Will they find out as I dont have any stamp or anything on my passport?

1. If I mention it,will it be problem?
