my application had reached HO on 8th april. I called up HO today and they say that my application is in queue to be assigned to a caseworker.
So looks like the timeline of approvals has alreasy increased.

when did yout application reach HO?

If anyone else calls HO. Please update here regarding what the application progress is? I think it will help all.

following timeline is closest to yours. So your approval should be almost on the way..:)...do let us know when you get it.

AmitGoyal
---------
---------
Date Applied :1 April
Reached Home office : 2 April
Debit charged: 3 April
Reference Number received :4 April ( PB3014....)
Approval Date: 16th April
Docs Received: 21 April

Why dont you call up HO once and try to ask your application status? Please update here for others benefit.

Fardeen,

Thanks for updating regarding HO call. Looks like timeline has increased. From the list I saw person who applied on 2nd april got it on 21. So 15 working days. And for us it hasnt even been assigned to case worker!!

I might try again after few days and will update here. Please update if you happen to call again.

Re: Prorata Calculation

Post by arunkumarprs » Mon Apr 28, 2008 11:14 am

Hi Abhishek,

I think i got it wrong. This rule was there for HSMP and no more for Tier 1. I checked it in another forum and they say that we need to use mulitplier if you have lived in more than one country for the period you stayed there...so in my case they say that i could use india mulitplier(~5.3) for 4 months in India and rest in UK band...

Can some one confirm me this....

Thanks
Arun

I’m in total mess with my previous earnings. Can some one please help me out if I can claim the points or not. I have listed down my case please examine them and let me know.

I work for an Indian company and currently I’m in UK for past 9 months.

Work History:
14-May-2007 to 22-Jul-2007 I was in India (3 Months)
23-Jul-2007 to 10-Dec2007 I was in UK (5 Months)
11-DEC-2007 to 20-Jan-2008 I was in India again (1 Month)
20-Jan-2008 to till date I’m in UK (3 Months)

If I consider from May2007 to Apr2008 (12 months) I have been in UK for 8 months and India for 4 months.

So this says that I should be applying in UK Band as I have spent most part of the year in UK.

Now coming to the earnings, as lot of us here, I get full India salary + UK Allowance during the period I was in UK. No P60, but I have signed payslips (both India and UK Allowance) and Bank Statement (Both India and UK)

If I add my UK Allowance and Indian Salary(without any upliftment) for the

Total for all 12 months I get GBP 21388.49
Total for 8 months spent in UK I get GBP 18389.71

Rule says that if my last 12 months earnings does not cover from a single country, Previous earnings would be calculated on a prorate bases on the country which I have spent most of the time. In my case since I have spent 8 months in UK I need to calculate the sum of earnings in these 8 months and divide it by 8 and multiply my 12….

If I do so then I will get (18389.71/8) * 12 = GBP 27584

If I don’t do prorate calculation I’m not getting my required 75 points.

Can anyone suggest me if my calculations and assumptions are right.

Please help me with this complex situation.

Hi, Irf

My application time is nearly the same as yours (I submitted on Monday 17th of March). One of my friends submitted on the same day as yours on Saturday 15th of March and he got his on 3rd of April.

Do you think your case is complicated or not? Mine with three dependants. don't know why it takes so long time for us.

I also called HO serveral times and not much information you can get from them. It is really not necessary to call them, I think

I hope we can get the passports back this week.

Drastically delayed decision

Post by synchrony786 » Mon Apr 28, 2008 11:45 am

Hi Irf/qqq/all,

I am following developments on various people applications through this forum and i think nobody is left with an awaited status for application submitted in March except myself, Irf and now qqq. I think we are boarding the same boat. I am still waiting and now keep calling HO almost every day but somebody said in this forum that it's "useless" to call them.. so the best strategy is to "Wait & See" unless somebody has any other suggestions... hope all of us have all the documents with us soon if not a decision. please keep intouch

Post by GJ10 » Mon Apr 28, 2008 3:01 pm

Hi Guys,

This might be a little dumb as i have read the guidance notes but am still a little confused.

Do i need to send the Passports along with the Tier 1 application. I am about to send my application but my wife is travelling in the next two weeks. Do i need to send my passport as well as the dependents along with application?

Your advice is greatly appreciated.

I am also from UK and from WP to tier1.

It seems you are not supposed to work for another company if holding WP.

Hi GJ10,

If you plannning to apply for Dependent along with yours then you MUST to send the Passport with Application for Dependent filled in.

you can apply for dependent seperately also by paying £395 once you get your Tier1.

Hope this clarifies your confusion.

Ra

Hi ,

As per my knowledge you can not work in another firm(other than your Work Permit sponsered company) until you get Tier1 or WP transfer to the new firm you are planning to work.

Ra.

Hi all,

I have applied under Tier1 General Extension switching from HSMP in the UK. I originally qualified the initial HSMP criteria in March 2006 in the UK as i was on the SEGS scheme after my master degree and then hundreds and thounsands of new changes came through which I have to qualify for if i want my application approved...

dont know if u guys know that HSMP Forum has won the case against government and the court has decided in favour of HSMP forum. I dont know if the decision would favour applicants like me or not but thats for sure according to BBC web site that HSMP Forum won the case which they filed against the government's introduction of new changes for already existing HSMP holders.

hope to have a decision soon and wishing u all the best for you guys....

keep intouch

At what number we can enquire the status from UK? I tried the one given on website but no one responds. Also do we need reference number to enquire status or it can be done by name and DOB?

Indian Salary + UK Allowance

Post by kmore97 » Tue Apr 29, 2008 10:08 am

Guys,
I am applying to switch from WP to tier1. I'm paid Indian salary and UK allowance. Without any upliftment, I earn more than 40K taking together Indian salary and UK allowance. There is no tax deduction from my UK allowance. I'm getting the slips for the allowances and they are stamped. What is the chance of approval if I submit the following documents

1. Indian pay slips (stamped)
2. Indian bank statements
3. UK Allowance slips (stamped)
4. UK Bank statements

Please reply. It's urgent.
