Work Visa

How can someone get a work visa if they need to have been working with employer for a year?
I am a british citizen wanting to hire a cuban nanny. How can I go about this?

I don't think you will be able to in my honest opinion.

Domestic worker is the only route unless there is a visa this person qualifies for in their own right.

Any reason why you cannot hire a nanny within the UK, who either has a visa already (i.e. working holiday or ancestry etc), is an EU national aupair etc??

But how do people apply for a domestic worker visa if they need to be in the job for a year previous to applying?

It is not designed for British or settled people living in the UK, the information clearly states. that.

It is classed as an unskilled job, many unemployed people in the UK can do it and there are may au pair/nanny agencies.

What about bringing her to the UK as an au pair?

There is no 'au pair' visa either.

Is there a particular reason that it must be this particular person from Cuba??

I'm from the Cayman Islands moving abroad with a baby alone, I would like to go with someone I know and trust. Could she also get a student visa for a college degree and be an au pair for me?

If she qualifies for a student visa and gets admission to a qualifying educational institution and a CAS then yes, but she would not be permitted to work for more than 20 hours per week.

Is there any way to go around her working with me for one year to get the work visa. 6 months is a good amount of time for her to stay with me, it would be ideal if I could get that visa. Since i am not usually resided in the UK. Thank you for your help!!!!

There is no 'way around' the requirements. She must have worked for your for 1 year before applying for the domestic visa and then cannot stay in the UK for more than 6 months.

What visa are you applying for to come to the UK??

I have a UK Passport.

She will need to find a visa that she qualifies for in her own right and meet the requirements and risk an interview too to prove genuineness (ie. student visa), particularly as this would be a low level unskilled job and many in the UK who can fulfil the requirements.

The visa rules have become strict due to years of abuse across many visa categories.
