Traveling to home county before applying for New COS on tier 2 general

Hello,
My current contract is expiring on 28th Sep. I have appeared for a few interviews and awaiting the results.
The interviewer said they won’t be able to make decision for couple of weeks, so I am planning to go back to home country for 15 days.
Now if the feedback is positive will I be able to come back to UK and apply for new COS via new employer or I will not be allowed to enter UK as my current employer would have sent letter to home office about cancellation of my COS.
Also suggest what is the best solution in such case.
