Final stage of citizenship application

Post by BabyJane » Wed Oct 17, 2018 9:02 pm

Hi

Does anyone know what final stage means? About 5 weeks ago, I was told that my application was submitted to the Minister for a decision. Since I've not heard back in 5 weeks, I rang again last week and was told that it's in final stages - but still no word on a decision.

Any advice? Experience to share?

thanks :)

Applied in May 2017, both on the basis of residency and by association. Received second stage letter in July, was told in September it was being prepped to go to the Minister, then that it was submitted to the Minister and shouldn’t be too long until I’ve heard back, and when I rang last week was told that it’s in the final stage. When I asked how to interpret what final stage meant, I was told that all the information they are able to provide was that it’s in final stage - so haven’t a clue what to think to be honest

Hopefully, you ll be able to attend this ceremony. So keep praying. They have clearly said that they will send the invites 4 to 5 weeks before the ceremony and the ceremony is on the 26th of next month. So you can hear from them hopefully soon.

As soon as it gets to the minister it shouldn’t take so long. Maybe they’re waiting to approve everything in a last batch before the ceremony

we’d also realised that people at the front desk in the citizenship dept don’t have as much info as those actually processing the applications. it’s also obvious that those at the front desk uses a lot of guess work to respond to the phone calls. anyway let’s hope that everything will be sorted out quickly enough

I guess I’m concerned it’s taking this long. What if it’s a rejection? Does anyone know if there are many rejections at final stage?

I understand your worry @BabyJane but getting worried won't help in this particular situation. Given that the application is with the minister, all you can do is to wait I'm afraid. I'm guessing that you will hear from them by the end of this month and that will give you plenty of time to get ready for the next ceremony hopefully. Fingers crossed. At least your application is progressing unlike some of this forum.

Yeah, I think they haven't started sending out approval letters yet, as people would have started giving updates on the forum re same. So don't worry.

My friend got hers approved yesterday. Spouse of Irish citizen, applied in May 2017. Mine is still in “final stage” according to lady on the phone. I applied in October 2017.

Ugh!!! Have they said if it is with the Minister or something like that?

I applied in Feb this year, and I am also in the second stage. I think they will still send the last batch of approvals by the end of this month

I got my second stage letter one month after I applied, in November 2017. She never got hers.. I dont think you can predict anything to be honest. It’s all down to who is handling your application.

Cngratulations, babyjane!

Congrats! One more example that the receptionist who answers the phone doesn't always know everything (or anything).

Spouse of Irish Citizen... they never asked for any extra documentation. I guess it’s a waiting game now!
