Absence wording

Post by Akorotaeva » Tue Nov 13, 2018 1:29 pm

Hi all,

I wanted to see what others think.

My former employer has given me an absence letter with two types of absences: work-related and annual leave.

One of my absences was paid and authorised absence while working remotely abroad (due to family bereveamenet). It was only 6 full days and I plan to apply for ILR after this absence has passed outside of my 5 year qualifying period (it was just at the start of my Tier 2 visa, luckily).

This absence was entered under work-related absences (as it was not annual leave) and the reason given is "authorised and fully paid absence due to family bereavement". I have an email from my former line manager to confirm I was working remotely.

Does this sound okay? Am I over-thinking or do they need to put remote working specifically? It doesn't neatly fit within either annual leave or work-related sections so I am very worried.

Thanks!

Hi,

are you referring to "Compassionate leave"?

My employer granted me 5 days of "Compassionate leave" when my father-in-law passed away.

In the absence letter they added an additional line "ABC was also granted an additional X days of compassionate leave from xx/xx/xxxx".

Hope this helps.

thx

Yes and no. I was working on the laptop while abroad with my family. My employer therefore allowed me not to take annual leave for this short trip.

I am wondering if they should add "working remotely" or whether their wording is enough?
