Good question mate. UK immigration doesn’t stamp the passport at the departure but as a non EU citizen my passport will be stamped when I land at the destination country. That’s how I calculated my dates.

P60s etc are only required as proof of residence in the UK if the applicant's passport isn't stamped on entry/exit from the UK. When I applied online it explained that non-EU/EEA applicants can just submit their passports as evidence of living in the UK, while EU/EEA applicants must submit alternative evidence in the form of employment letters etc.

Your Home Office caseworker should write to you to request those documents if they need them to consider your application.

I would like to send the documents if they really required to submit by rules and before I get the letter from HO to avoid delay, which is why to avoid these kinds of confusions I have chosen NCS in the first place so they would ask me if I did really missed any documents. I did carried all these documents but they haven't asked.

Yes, sorry, you're right, they don't stamp on exit. All the countries I visited while living in the UK did however stamp on both entry and exit, so it's a complete picture of my time inside and outside the UK. I don't believe I've visited any country that didn't examine my passport, but I do have a South African one so that's to be expected

Process according to xxxx Page (Deputy Chief Caseworker)

(i) Envelope opened and fee taken to account. Contents of envelope place
in a pouch.
(ii) Application file is created. Database record created specific to
the application.
(iii) Security checks conducted - some of which are directly against the
information entered onto the database, others are with external
agencies.
(iv) Case goes into queue awaiting consideration by a caseworker. Queue
is in date-of-receipt order.
(v) Case is allocated to a caseworker for consideration. If everything
is in order the application is approved. If not, deficiencies are
rectified - e.g. by writing to applicant for further documents or by
clarifying immigration history from records or clarifying security
checks.
(vi) The system generates a certificate for the applicant which is
printed off and despatched.

Here is some information why some applications gets rejected:

Good Character Requirement

The decision-maker would not normally consider an applicant to be of good character where there was information to suggest that applicants:

• had not respected and/or were not prepared to abide by the law, e.g. having been convicted of a crime (either in the UK or elsewhere);

• had been involved in or associated with war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide or terrorism;

• had financial affairs that were not in appropriate order, e.g. failing to pay tax;

• conducted activities that were notorious and cast serious doubt on their standing in the local community;

• had been deliberately dishonest or deceptive in their dealings with the UK government; or

• had assisted in the evasion of immigration control.

Criminal Convictions – Impact on Application

Sentence Impact

4 years or more imprisonment: Application will normally be refused, regardless of when the conviction occurred.

Between 12 months and 4 years imprisonment: Application will normally be refused unless 15 years have passed since the end of the sentence.

Up to 12 months imprisonment: Applications will normally be refused unless seven years have passed since the end of the sentence.

Non-custodial sentence or other out-of-court disposal, recorded on criminal record: Applications will normally be refused if the conviction occurred within the last 3 years.

If you are not one of them then you should not worry. If you have not heard from the Home Office yet, its just a delay and nothing else..

Nobody here would know - have you been in contact with Home Office?
Perhaps contacting your MP may help - but no guarantee of course.

Hi all

I am applying for British Citizenship as a EU citizen, together with my husband and 9 yo daughter. My husband has always been self employed therefore we will include his SA302s for all of the last 5 years as proof of being in the UK.
From what I have read on the gov.uk website, bank statements and utility bills are no longer accepted as proof of being in the UK. I have an employment gap from April 2016 to October 2017 and I have no idea what to provide for this period to prove I was in the UK.
Also, for my daughter: she was born in the UK and always attended school here, now in year 5. Would letter from school to attest this be enough?

Yes I did contacted HO once in march 2017 and I also received an email from my MP about 4 weeks ago

Dear xxx

I have finally had a response from the Home Office. Unfortunately it looks like all the checks they do on applications have not been returned..... I have copied the text below. I am not allowed to send the full email as it contains home office contact details which are only available to MP's.

It is unclear how long they will take to reach a decision. I will chase this application again in 2 months.

Please let me know if you hear anything in the mean time.

-Was just wondering if people still get interviewed after submitting passport applications?
-For those who have recceived their approval in a short span of time e.g., 16 days,29 days to a month or two months...on your stay in the UK have you ever travelled outside the UK in the period covered in your application?
-For those who have received their approval letter,did it come separately from the documents you have submitted? If yes/no,did they come the same day or different days and which came first and last?
It would be good to get inputs. Thanks in advance for sharing

Most of us are browsing through these posts eagerly scanning for any info to help through the waiting period. I am grateful for all the discussions and sharing of experiences... certainly helps me get things in perspective and also gives me lots of hope for a successful outcome to my application for citizenship. I do have a question, though. It may have been asked and answered before. I submitted my online application with payment etc on the 16th of November. The payment fee deducted from my account. On Tuesday, 27th November I had my appointment with UKCVAS at Sopra Steria in Birmingham. That all went well... the biometrics etc... I am now in a holding pattern. Two questions: I've only received one e-mail from the HO. This was soon after I submitted my online application. It simply stated that they have received my application and are considering it. At the top of the e-mail was an assigned case no. Since then, and since the Sopra Steria visit, I've received no further notifications. Should they have sent me a notification via e-mail that they've received payment, received my biometrics etc...? Second question is: Under this new system, can I begin the process of applying for a passport now or must I wait for approval and ceremony and certificate? If I can, how do I go about it? Do I simply apply online via the Gov.Uk site? Many thanks, and hope we all have successful outcomes. Cheers.

1. Best not to expect an update every step of the process from HO. They don't do that. You have received an acknowledgement and done your biometrics. Now you simply have to wait.

2. No, you cannot apply for a passport yet. You can only do that once you are British after you have attended your ceremony.

So as mentioned HO received my english certificate 2 days after the given time frame. I finally have received an email from my case worker today she mentioned that she was out the office thats why she didnt reply to the emails and she is working on my case now. How long do you guys think it will take from now until i receive a decision, bare in mind i sent them a pre paid special delivery envelope i hope they will use it. I

Can you please clarify the 'date-of-receipt' order? Is it the (online) application form? or all supporting documents including biometrics?
