My apologies CR0001, I had thought it might be better to stick with a topic more relevant to my question.

The form given to me by the ASC was very clear, my mistake was not turning it over and reading the reverse side.

Thank you for the prompt response.

@basicdiagrams - I do not have any specific answer for you about your biometrics but perhaps you can reply to the email and see if they respond, especially if the email was signed by a person and not autogenerated. In my case my biometrics letter (attached to an email) had an inconsistency and I replied to the email and got a prompt response. My appointment is scheduled for tomorrow so hopefully it will go well.
Thanks, I sent the mail with my inquiries to NationalityBiometricsOverseas@homeoffice.gov.uk, and I replied to the email with the biometric enrolment letter.

There is a TLS VAC in my country but I'm unable to contact them as they don't have any publicly displayed contact info (except for the contact form on their website, which deals with complaints about their service).

If anyone else had a similar issue please do respond here.
Update:

I got a reply from the Home Office with a new Biometric Enrolment letter instructing me in how to book the appointment with the TLS VAC in my country. Basically I have to schedule an appointment directly via email.

I also (unexpectedly) got a reply from the TLS customer service with more or less the same info that I got from the HO.

Thanks again, alanwar!

27/9/2018 Letter with biometric instructions received
1/10/2018 Biometrics enrolled at TLS office

I guess from here will be the long wait...

Congrats. Seems like the UKF apps are moving relatively quickly after biometric enrolment

I was quite surprised too since I intitially thought they would just return my original documents and receive a letter later but the letter came with the documents. 😊

Applied from USA. The whole process has been VERY quick and easy for me, and now all I'm waiting on is the invitation to the ceremony.

Application arrival: 18 September 2018
Fee taken from account: 24 September 2018
Application receipt acknowledgement: 25 September 2018
Invitation to complete biometrics: 25 September 2018
Biometrics appointment: 15 October 2018 (likely could have been seen much earlier, but this was my first available date and they gave me the date I asked for)
Letter of successful application dated: 6 November 2018
Invitation to ceremony: TBD
Date of ceremony: TBD

Cheers! I wasn't expecting it back this soon, especially with no warning it was coming. Went to check the post and got a package with all my documents and the letter of success. I'm desperately curious about how long until I'll be invited to the ceremony as I've only heard from one other person who registered in the US and she said her ceremony was basically the same day she got her invitation, but she was also one of the first people to register under UKF so I think there weren't as many people applying.

Well in the letter of succes, it says that it can take up to 3 months. So out of curiosity, I called the home office today and they told me that I could contact them if I don't receive an invitation from the embassy after 21 days.

Oh wow, super helpful - thank you! I was planning on being nice and British and waiting the full three months but if there's any chance of getting word sooner I will absolutely take it! I have three small kids I now need to register and then a spousal visa to apply for so I'm definitely keen to get the lead out on everything so we can move back to the UK in a year.

That's amazing! Goodluck with everything and hopefully everything from now won't take too long as I read the passport could also take up to 6 weeks if you're applying from abroad.

This is interesting. My approval letter was dated 24 October.. since its been more than 21 days, I contacted British Embassy and they just said "we haven't received your registration certificate yet".. so would be interested to know how to contact them because the approval letter also said contact us in 3 months if you haven't received an invitation from the embassy. Lol so which one is it? :P

You would have to send an e-mail to Citizenship.Support@homeoffice.gov.uk if you haven’t received an invitation from the Embassy after 21 days. That is what I was told on the phone by someone at the Home Office. I’m assuming the country to which the certificate needs to be mailed to also plays a roll as it is obviously quicker when mailed to a country in Europe compared to outside Europe.

You'd think they'd use diplomatic mail/couriers or some other mechanism and not the local country's surface mail...I'm not sure if its worth waiting or if I should contact Citizenship.Support@homeoffice.gov.uk

Also the UKF guide states that the applicant has three months to attend a ceremony after approval but if you don't receive the invitation in three months then obviously you can't attend it within that time period. Kind of odd

I’m sure, due to the kind of document, they will use couriers. At least, I hope so. Because the certificate can’t be issued twice and so if it gets lost in the mail, it will be a problem.

Did they recommend a method of contact? i.e. specific email address.

The user is not asking about the certificate (which can be reissued by the way), they are asking about the approval/invitation letter.

Certificate is handed out at the ceremony.

I guess I have been misinformed then. Because I was told the certificate is issued only once. I’m aware that it’s handed at the ceremony.
The approval letter is different from the invitation letter. The approval letter comes with your documents and the invitation letter is sent when the embassy has received your certificate.

So out of curiosity, I called to find out about the reissuance of citizenship certificates and I was told that it is not possible. It is issued only once. So when it’s lost, that’s it. Wasn’t misinformed after all. Goodluck

Note that the call centres are outsourced to a third party mostly and often give generic advice.

If the cert is lost in transit or by HO, it is reissued free of charge!! Many experiences of getting replacement certs posted by members over the years.

Wow! You’re right because they told me that it is impossible. Well I’m glad it can be replaced then as anything of course can happen and it is an important document. Thank you for this information. It’s quite disappointing that you could be mislead or misinformed by people who are actually working at the HO. But anyway, thanks for the info
