IHS increase again?

Post by bravopapa » Mon Nov 19, 2018 11:04 am

I am a recent BC and we have to renew my wife visa next year. Just saw that they increased the IHS again in Dec 2018 which will almost double the fees we have to pay for renewal

When will the home office stop using non-EU as a cash cow?

Doesnt the home office know that the foreigners do work and contribute already to NHS through taxes?
Why double paying then? why?

Is Great Britain so great that it can afford to over tax people? why such a differential in treatment between EU and non EU

There has been no official confirmation of an increase as yet for December!

It charges outrageous fees because it can and because non EU citizens are the only ones it can charge for now, so it charges high.

I do not think for one second it will change if (if) the UK leaves the EU, once a government is used to easy money it will not stop raking it in.

There will either still be more favourable visa costs for EU citizens or massive increases perhaps in certain areas - spouse visas the most likely as this hits the citizen rather than business and money.

Non EU citizens work hard and spend a lot of time and effort saving money to buy a property. They want to have decent lives (just like BCs) but the UK gov makes it harder for them with high visa fees.

I work for the NHS in a mental health hospital. I have been attacked violently by patients who were very unwell. I have been racially abused and spat at by patients in the context of being drunk or under the influence of drugs. Still I can not use the services of the NHS without paying the IHS.

I’ve lived in the UK for 19 years, at 44 years old I’ve not spent a night in a hospital. I have only gone to the A and E once, that was in 2004. Yet I can not use the services of the NHS without paying IHS. This is unfair!

If you have lived 19 years legally in UK then might have already secured at least PR/ILR which can get you exempted from paying any IHS.

I came in 1999 but didn’t regularise my status until 2013.

Your illegally spent time period wont exempt you from IHS rather your existing visa category will determine that whether you need to pay it or not.

Am confused, you were illegal between 1999-2013 nor did you regularise your stay yet you are moaning about NHS. Am sure within that time you have used NHS.

The IHS payment affects not just you but everyone applying for entry clearance to settle in UK as well. You were already in the UK. This affects everyone and not just you.

Why am i not surprised?

Let me make an educated guess. in 5 years time, IHS will be 1000 pounds per year even for those who hold a Tier 2 visa and pay taxes like any other citizen.

My understanding is that this going to the house of lords to be voted next week. Do we know if it will take effect at the begining of December? Surely it can't take effect mid-month. The reason i'm asking is that im applying for FLRM extension around 19th of December and i want to avoid paying the increase.

It's not like the visa is cheap. Now it's gonna cost more than 2k to apply. Imagine if you have 2-3 kids applying with you, you need a loan to apply. Daylight robbery. Soon it will be EU citizens who will probably have to pay the same.

I read somewhere they will ask EU people to apply using a much simpler form and around £60. It's all speculations tho.

Dont think EU will pay as much. Remember that EU has a lot of organisations and commissions that defend the rights of their citizens. Non EU have no one to defend them simply because non EU means India, USA, Canada, South Africa etc and there is no political body that can defend us hence the daylight robbery

I don't think it will be beginning of December. How much in advance can one pay IHS fee ? later on submit online form...
You can find out and do that for sure. You are spot on, avoid paying exorbitant fee...

I think we all are looking at paying 4k + fee for ILR for our spouses, in 2.5 yes time, right? Grrr....

If you have money, it is better to apply premium service for ILR otherwise they may keep your application for up to 6 months (and when you wait for something in particular, 6 months will feel like 10 years).

Not sure how it would work as they probably want you to pay the fee valid at the time of the application. I’m keeping a close eye on it.

The fees just keep going up. It takes them a fraction of the price to process it. For these amount of money premium should already be inlcluded. I refuse to pay premium to these leeches.
