Child Benefit. Please Help.

Dear IB Mentor's/Guru's

I recently got Indefinite Leave to Remain through Tier 2 - 5 years route.
Still my wife & 1.9 years old baby are dependents for me and they hold dependent visas.
I'm confused with reading all blogs, websites(including Gov.UK) it's confusing always.
Please help me what are the child benefits can I claim?

You can claim Child Benefit in your name only. You have the entitlement to CB as you are claiming, not your child.

Child Tax Credits (and Working Tax Credits) must be claimed in joint names. This won't affect your wife's visa applications.

Hello,

As a ILR holder can I claim housing benefit? Right now I have no job. Previously I had annual income of 12K. My wife is also jobless. Please assist me can I claim housing benefit?

You can only claim Housing Benefit as a single person, although all household income must be declared.

This might be very helpful for questions on Child Benefit when one parent has ILR and other parent has no recourse to public funds.
