First Ceremony of 2019

Post by thegoodaulleo » Tue Nov 27, 2018 1:37 pm

Based on statistics and previous ceremonies... has anyone any idea when it's gonna be the first of 2019?

Based on the last 2 years, most likely April or May, unless there is a smaller ceremony beforehand

Most likely be in April but I’m hoping for one a lot sooner I received my approval 7th of November but wasn’t included in the ceremony.

Received approval in Sep 2018 and sent everything. Would be harsh to live without GNIB till May... :(

Did you ask to return IRP back to you in the meantime while waiting for next ceremony?

Nope, However if the IRP has to be up to date at the ceremony date. if its expiring soon they Naturalization office will get in touch with you and send the card so you can renew it.

from the inis website;

The next day of citizenship ceremonies will take place in 2019 in the Killarney Convention Centre, Killarney, Co. Kerry. An exact date will be announced in 2019.

When did you apply? How long did the whole process take?

If you do not mind share your experience and any issues you faced.

Thanks

I applied in May 2018 and got the approval in Sep.
There was no issues.
Just hoping the next ceremony will be advertised soon.

It seems then that they do prioritise people who applied first for the ceremonies. I have a friend who had hers approved in late October and she made it to the ceremony, but she applied in May 2017.

Your lucky then because it is never that quick, it takes up to 6 months to process a straight forward application (Which is not true as there is no definition of what straight forward application) However applicants mostly waits up to a year for an approval but it depends on where you are from.

Did you apply based on a marriage to Irish citizen?

Anyway, best of luck, hopefully you will get the very first ceremony of 2019 (Finger Crossed).

:)

Hi there, I'm wondering what is the usual processing time? I'm a UK citizen living in Ireland 29yrs married to an Irish born national 19yrs, I applied for naturalisation Feb '18. All I've heard since is they have acknowledged receipt of my application, that's it, I have no convictions not even a traffic offence and been working in the public sector since '93. All I want is a little assurance that my application hasn't been pushed to the side because of the Brexit fiasco (rant over). I was hoping to be included in one of this year's ceremonies but not at all hopefull now. Thanks

You could be waiting 2 years as well as a few months... there's no timeline really even for straightforward application. For more info you should create your own post so we are not going off-topic on this one

Hi Jacyboy, I’m in almost exactly the same situation as you and I have heard nothing either. I didn’t apply until last year as I was annoyed that my wife had had her post-nuptial constitutional rights surreptitiously removed in 2005 under the guise of another constitutional change in 2002. I’m happy to make contact with you and discuss the current situation and political climate. If you’re interested I’ll see if I can set up a temporary email address that I can post on here as I’d prefer to remain anonymous for now. Duquesne.

Germans can’t have 2 citizenships - why would you abandon your German one and pursue Irish?

Germany accepts dual nationality with other member states of the EU.

Good to know. I've got my second letter back in November and I'm waiting for approval too.
