We are currently waiting for a decision. Timeline so far;

Visa type: Settlement, Fiancé
Online application submitted: 02/11/18.
Biometrics appointment: 07/11/18 in Kuala Lumpur
Documents sent to Sheffield: 12/11/18. Had to wait for my partners IELTS and TB results to get here as he posted them right after the appointment, if we had known prior to the appointment that they didn't need to look at them he would have sent them to me sooner.
Confirmation of online application email: 16/11/18
Documents returned with supporting letter from UKVI: 15/11/18.

I had a missed delivery card from the Royal Mail because a parcel needed signing for, I couldn't get to the sorting office until today (19/11/18) and have been wondering what it is all weekend and thinking that it must be the documents because I am not expecting anything else that needs to be signed for. I was shocked they had sent the documents back so quickly and thought that maybe there had been some kind of mistake and they had been returned without being looked at, but there is a letter from UKVI included saying they have retained copies of them and we would be contacted if any further information is required.
Update;

11/12/18: Email request came through as for wage slips and work letter, it was in the original pack so I assume they have lost them. They only wanted scans so that was easy.
13/12/18: Telephone interview. One person rang me, another rang my fiance, at the same. Questions were pretty straight forward, asking about our relationship, what we done when we were together, how we keep in touch since he went back to Malaysia, each others hobbies, favourite food.. that sort of thing.
Afterwards we found out that we our answers to what the favourite food is didn't quite match up, but I am not sure how much that will go against us.

Still waiting for a decision.

Take the time and read through the last few pages of this topic, it has been posted more than once. Note also that questions will be based specifically on your circumstances and NOT everyone gets a call either.

Hi,
Visa Type: Spouse Visa
Application from: Shanghai, China
Non-priority
Biometrics: 23rd June 2018
Post all supporting documents to Sheffield: 12th July 2018
Received all documents back: 12th Aug 2018
Received email our case is not straightforward: 18th Sep

Decision: Just received message passport was posted to us on 11th December

I am a sole trader and selfemployed. The last 5 months have been very difficult, to say the least. I thought our visa is gonna take more than 9 months like extreme cases I have heard on the forum.
I just received message the decision has been made and I hope for the best

So I explained my whole situation about how it's taken so long and I have a disabled daughter plus another 1 year old and I'm a single mum and how hard it is. And told them that it taken this long coming upto a year with nothing. And then gave my husband details like his date of birth his reference number and his full name.

Well after the decision email yesterday I am feeling even more strssed about the outcome. I can track the passport and see that it has reached my local area but I just can't help but stress about it as I have to wait till tomorrow to find out.

My wife submitted the passport locally at chandigarh India but I can see from tracking it is being sent back from New Delhi. Maybe they sent it to stamp visa in her passport ? :|

Why your sponsoring, parents agreed to marriage, hobbies/spare time. Future plans. They could ask random questions so be prepared.

we are waiting since May (Bio metric was on 8th May India) and escalated 7 times (always received the generic email by stating we don't have any timescale on your application but we are working on it), involved MP (and he has also got the same response by stating no timescale on our application)

We stopped doing the tracking of no of business days, escalations etc etc.. other than going through this forum... :) :) :)
I am in the same boat I applied 9th May and from India and have escalated 4 times. I have involved MP and he is handed as you said the message we been getting that they doing background checks.
Ohoo same story here, but at least in your case MP told they are doing background check.. but for us nothing.. i applied after 2 months of my marriage.. and am director of my own limited company.. not sure why are they taking more time to make a decision on our application...
Yes I feel your pain, the sadness we bring to ourselves by thinking on this over and over overwhelms us. However, there is nothing that will stop us from being united with our loved ones so we just have to wait. My uncle had been trying to bring his wife for 5 years and the UK immigration didn't allow him. He went through much tribulations but through surinder singh route he has been united with his wife.

Congrats bro..
still we are waiting, lets see...
