Married to a British citizen application questions

Post by juma007 » Mon Dec 10, 2018 9:43 am

Hello

I'm married to a British citizen and we are applying for my naturalization, we have few questions:

1/ whats the best method of applying, online or via the council?

2/ I started work in October 2018 - do I need to include my contract, October and November payslips? I also have a letter from employer stating I work there.

3/ I only started working on October 2018 how can I prove my 3 year residency? Will the documents submitted in successful ILR application be OK, things letters from GP, bank statements and utility bills?

4/ Do we need income details from my husband (British citizen)? things like letter from hes employer? payslips?

1. The council service has been discontinued now. You apply online and use the new service, see links below.

general-uk-immigration-forum/new-uk-vis ... 67060.html

https://www.ukvcas.co.uk/home-internal

2. No.

3. You need to follow the basic documents the form asks for, ie passports and ILR brp card. It is not a rerun of the ILR process and documents when applying for citizenship.

4. No.

You also need to make sure that you were physically present in the UK at the start of the 3 year qualifying period for citizenship. This is a mandatory requirement.

Citizenship application referee question

Post by juma007 » Fri Dec 14, 2018 8:44 pm

Hello

Just wondering about the referee for my application, can a 'Commercial waste technical officer' working for my local council be my professional referee?

Does the second referee need to be a working professional too, or can anyone who's British be a second referee?

Thanks

Citizenship application checklist

Post by juma007 » Sat Dec 15, 2018 9:20 am

Hello

We are going completing a citizenship application and wanted to check if the documents we have are in order?

1/ Evidance of identity
Passport, BRP

2/ Evidance of knowledge of language and life in UK
Life in UK pass letter and B1 certificate from trinity college.

3/ Evidance of lawful residence
Passport is mentioned on the form, do I need more evidence like letters from hospital, GP etc?

4/ Evidance of freedom from immigration restriction
Indefinite live to remain letter and BRP

Application is made on basis of marriage to British citizen.

6/ Evidance of spouse British citizenship
Is he’s passport enough, we have he’s naturalisation certificate as well?

8/ NAtional insurance
I started work on October 2018, apart from my NI number do I need to provide payslips, contract or letter from employer?

7/ Professional referee
Can a ‘commercial waste technical officer’ working my local council qualify as a referee?

Referee list in link below.

https://www.gov.im/media/624353/listofreferees.pdf

You need ONE referee who is over 25, British and of good character.

You need ANOTHER referee who is over 25, on the list of professional referees above, of good character and of ANY nationality.

ACCA is good for professional referee - it's the professional institute.

The other is fine if the requirements are met.

You can't use the online form if you apply and can get an appointment at NCS at a council still offering the service. For NCS you must use the paper form.

For online form you book an appointment at one of the new service centres.

Few questions from the online form:

Can the professional referee be a Friend?

Can the non-professional referee be a Friend of my husband?

Under Immigration details section:
Have you made any previous UK immigration applications in the UK or abroad?

Do I need to provide the history of application from first marriage visa to my ILR?
If yes, I can't remember the dates of the some applications, and the finger print dates, is that OK?

1. Yes, provided they are over 25, of good character and have known you for 3 years and in the list of professional referees accepted by HO.

2. Yes, same as above in #1 but must be British.

3. Yes.

re Tax office reference number

I started work on October 2018, I looked for the number on my payslip but its not there, I don't have a P60 yet. I tried calling HMRC but they can't provide it over the phone, is this something my employer would have?

Thanks

Ask HR, they should be able to give it to you.

Your marriage or civil partnership certificate
Marriage Certificate

Hi

We have used my husbands brothers wife as one of the referees since we are not blood related, now we are thinking we make a mistake, we still didn’t attend our service center appointment.

We are thinking now if this referee is OK or can we get the HO to correct as a honest mistake or can we cancel the application then reapply?

Please advice as we are worried now.

Thanks

You cannot use a referee who is related to you through blood OR marriage.

We have already submitted the online application how can we correct? Do we withdraw the application and resubmit? What’s the best course of action.

Find another referee and ask them to sign the paper form and submit that with your application at your appointment with a covering note.
