Return Tickets for Visitor's Visa

Post by Nandakumar_Sankar » Tue Nov 20, 2018 12:22 pm

Dear all,

My parents are traveling from India to visit me in the UK and they have planned to stay here for a month or two. Is it mandatory to book a return ticket before the immigration in India?

Can anyone help me in this, please?

Many Thanks

Yes, They will need a return ticket to clear uk immigration at UK airport. 99% of the time, The officer refuses the entry if people don't have a return ticket on visitor visa.

And to add more to it, your parents should not stay beyond the period they had stated on the application form
Any suggestions I make in the forum are out my personal experience and should not be taken as a legal/professional advise.

Interesting, I thought they were allowed to stay 180 days on a 6 months visa?

Applicants are required to state how long they intend to stay in the UK and are expected to adhere to that if the visa is issued. Also, the amount of funds available to them during their stay is taken to consideration when the ECO is assessing the application. The amount for a stay of 2 months for example, may not be considered as sufficient for a 6 month visit.

Not mandatory at all

Visas are often refused so you'll end up loosing reservation costs if you did book

Clear intention to travel between dates is required.

Husband's timeline - overstayer 11 yrs
08/16 - FLR (FP) Partner, refused 02/18, 03/18 - JR permission refused with merit
08/18 - FLR FP (Partner) PSC - Approved
07/20 - FLR FP to FLR M Switch - Approved, 03/23 FLR M Ext Approved.

Never heard of that one before. I know many who have applied and have never had to buy a return ticket
