Post by coolforyou » Mon Dec 31, 2018 11:47 am

Hi all,

Hope all the doing great.

I Have 10 years of IT experience as Database & Business intelligence Developer.

I looking for Job abroad. Heard Switzerland is good at pay and balanced life.

Can some one help me how to get job and what are the genuine way, procedure and prerequisites to get settled in Switzerland.

Do i have to learn any Switzerland language ? i know only English.

You find a job, probably online, and company sorts it out for you.
This however is not a job site recommendation site.

I am and I am sure all others as well would be more than happy to help with your questions regarding Europe, EU, immigration, visas etc.

But the job bit you got to sort it out I'm afraid.

Regardless of what language your job would be in, for day-to-day living you'd need to have or at least build up knowledge of either German, French or Italian, depending on which part of the country you'd be located.

In Geneva, for instance, survival is fine with just English. Being part of society (hobbies, theater, having friends beyond the most immediate expat bubble, etc.) requires French.

Switzerland is beautiful and has a very high quality of life.

However, as regards pay, while the pay is indeed high, keep in mind that expenses are equally high. Indeed, inspite of being a Brit (and thus used to relatively high costs), visits to Switzerland have shocked me as to the scale of how expensive it is. If one uses the McDonald's Price Index (of how much a burger costs around the world), the basic hamburger costs £1 in London, but CHF4.50 (£3.50) in Zurich. The same (German) magazine costs €4.50 in Germany, €5.40 in Austria & CHF 8.40 (€7.50) in Switzerland. It is the same magazine, all three prices are printed on the cover. Public transport is extremely well-organised, but expensive, with a day ticket (valid across Switzerland) costing up to £50 a day.

As I understand it, taxation in general is relatively quite high (and remember that there are three levels of government; federal, cantonal and communal, all with their taxes to collect). The quality of life is high and you see your taxes at work, with clean roads, well-kept surroundings, strict laws, etc. But factor the higher taxes and higher costs of living into your equations, rather than just looking at the high gross salary. It won't go that far in Switzerland.

A way around that is to live across the border, in Germany or France, and commute daily. But then that restricts where you can work in Switzerland. Give thought to all these factors while planning your immigration journey.
