Being a landlord whilst on Tier 2 visa

Hello,

I know the 20 hours supplementary work rule and no self-employed rule whilst on Tier 2 General, but what about income from renting your house? What kind of income is this? It's neither a second job nor self-employed job. Thank you!

Unless you are a professional landlord, neither.

It is simply a rental income which is a separate classification

Is there anybody who has rented out their property while being on Tier 2 and have had their ILR processed please ?

My understanding is that, once you rent out a property, you need to do a self assessment and pay the tax due for the rental income.

Assume, this would have no impact on ILR. can someone who has gone through this process please help clarify.

I rang HMRC, they have advised that renting a room is NOT considered as self-employed
