Travel to Ireland to Reset Schengen 90 Day Stay

Post by Ximon » Thu Jan 24, 2019 8:41 pm

Concerning American tourists to the EU, does anyone know if, once your 90 days in the Schengen Area is expired, can you then travel to Ireland for 90 days in order to reset? Ireland of course is not part of Schengen.

As an American, you can be in the Schengen Zone as a tourist 90 days in a 180-day period. If you leave the Schengen Zone, your time doesn’t reset so it is really important that you keep track of how long you’re in the Schengen Zone. If you’re in the Schengen Zone for 90 days consecutively, you must leave after 90 days and can’t return for another 90 days! That is critical because a lot of countries reset the clock if you leave. The Schengen Zone doesn’t!

Thanks but I am asking if Ireland and the UK are among the countries that allow you to reset?

I don't think that was the OP's question. OP asked: if he leaves Schengen area after 90 days as tourist, and goes to Ireland for 90 days after that, will he be able to return to Schengen area afterwards?
