Set (O) appointment on 09/02 - cohabitation question

Post by ABasu » Mon Jan 28, 2019 8:52 am

Hi all,

My wife and I are applying for ILR via the T2 General 5 year route and have booked the appointment for 9th Feb.

I understand that we need to show 6 documents from 3 different sources spanning 2 years from the date of application in both our names.

To be safer, I am trying to get a document for each quarter for the 2 years preceding the application. Till now, I have got documents covering 5 quarters that have both our names. These are bank statements, council letters, rent agreements and utility bills. I am still falling short of 1 (if we look at the required 6 documents from 3 different sources).

My question is this - If I have to show documents addressed to my wife and I individually for a period, how many documents do I need to submit for each one of us? So for example, if I don't have a joint letter for Q4 2018, do I need to submit 3 documents in each of our names (so 6 in total for that quarter) or 1 each (so 2 in total)?

I am pretty sure its 1 document each but I still wanted to confirm once. Would be great if any one here could guide.

AB.

1 each is enough for the quarter, I just received my ILR last week in the same category.

Set(O) from T2 General - Urgent Question

Post by ABasu » Fri Feb 08, 2019 2:29 pm

Hi Guys,

I have an appointment at Steria tomorrow. Everything is in order and I have the one last question left.

Context of the question:
My wife (main applicant) had a business visitor visa refusal for Netherlands. The refusal was done in error and we have the email conversation with the Consulate General of the Netherlands confirming that. We have explained, albeit in 500 letters, in the form about the refusal and have attached the said email chain to the application (by attached I mean uploaded) and mentioned it in the list of documents given in the cover letter.

Refusal reason (bit of a long read) - My wife was supposed to travel to the Netherlands from the UK on a business trip. So the total trip would be India to UK to Netherlands back to the UK and finally back to India. Her company had booked ferry tickets from UK to the Netherlands. The refusal reason given was that there was no "air itinerary" attached to the application. My wife emailed them back pointing the error out. They said "oops, our mistake" and asked her to submit her passport again for stamping. Unfortunately, she had to travel to the UK on the same date that she got the reply from them on. So, trip to Netherlands never happened.

Question: Do I need to upload a separate cover letter for the one refusal to explain in a little more detail or will the explaination on the application and email trail be enough?

I do not want to make life difficult for the case worker but I don't want to leave any room for "additional time requred" or a moronic refusal either. Hence the question.
I would appreciate if someone could get back to me about this at the earliest.

Thanks,
AB

Explanation on the application and email trail should be enough I think as they can go through the email thread if they want more details.

Btw, which year was it refused?
My advice is based on personal research/experience, so pls check relevant UKVI sources.

Under which section/question did you declare this visa refusal? I didn't find any relevant question in set (o) form (old form)

It’s under the question “have you been refused a visa earlier?”
