Earned regularisation - UK

Post by binnacle » Wed Mar 09, 2005 6:58 pm

Was the earned regularisation topic being discussed in the press some months ago just fanciful thinking or is that actually going to be put in place?

Does anyone know?

All went quiet after Nov 2003 when Blankett announced his thoughts. Then a few days later Beverley speaking in Parliament dismissed it saying that there were no plans for it at all, only in the far future, "maybe" before the the compulsory ID cards are introduced, which is not earlier than 2008.

There was one hearing at Appeal Tribunal a few months ago where this programme had been referred to as an already existing one, which was surprising. The IND, however, openly denies to anyone on the phone that this programme exists.

So it is pretty sombre at the moment.
