Ielts general for ILR application

Post by Elielman75 » Fri Feb 15, 2019 2:27 pm

Good afternoon all,

I am applying soon for my ILR. I immigrated to the UK under visa Tier2 general 5 years back. Regarding English qualifications, as I have searched, either Ielts life skills or Ielts UKVI is required even if it runs out.
When I applied for my visa Tier 2 I submitted Ielts general training certificate. This certificate has not been mentioned in recognised English test center in UK.gov website. My questions are:
1. Is Ielts general training acceptable for ILR online application?
2. Where in UK. Gov I can find if this is acceptable

All my friends who have applied in 2018, they have submitted Ielts general training certificate and it has been accepted. In online application seems it will be asked for UKVI number? If so and if the application asks for UKVI number, does that mean ielts general certificate which does not have this number would be unacceptable?

Many thanks
Eli

Indefinite leave applications
The English language test must have been taken no more than 2 years before the date of application. However, tests that have been taken more than 2 years ago and have since expired, can still be accepted where the qualification:
• is from one of the providers on the current SELT list
• has previously been accepted by us as part of another immigration application, such as for entry clearance. A qualification that is not from one of the providers on the current SELT list, is not acceptable even if previously accepted by us as part of another application
Guide - Knowledge of Language and Life in the UK

As IELTS is still an approved provider under Appendix O AND you have used that test before in an immigration application, then you should normally be able to use it now for ILR

Thank you so much for your reply.
I could not find ielts general in the links that you have provided. Would you let me know which one can be assumed as Ielts general?

It is the PROVIDER on the list which is the IELTS consortium. Both IELTS and Trinity College providers are accepted :!:

My ILR assistant is insisting to take ielts life skills as soon as possible. How can I book my test?

Gap between two jobs while tier2 visa

Post by Elielman75 » Mon Feb 18, 2019 2:52 pm

Dear all I have entered to the UK via visa tier2 in April 2014. I became redundant 30th Jun 2016. I found another job and employed on 14 Aug 2016. The gap between two employments was about 1 month and 14 days. Am I still eligible to apply for ILR 5 years after my first entry? Or that is not possible due this unemployment gap?

There is no employment gap rule anymore. It was removed over a year ago.

Presumably you only started working again once you got your new visa and did not work at all in between.

For that 1.5 months I was not working but I was in the UK and looking for a new job. Does it cause a problem? Can I apply for my ILR 5 years after my first entry to the UK?

No it does not. Provided you only started working for the new employer once you got a new tier 2 general visa.

Your residence starts counting from date of initial visa start date.

My most recent question was fairly clear though, that presumably you only started working for the new sponsor AFTER getting a NEWS tier 2 general visa.

18 days after my new visa issue date. Does it cause any issues?

For how many years we need to submit p60 documents?

P60s are not required. Only payslips and bank statements.

Thanks. But why my ILR assistant has asked for it? Is there anywhere in gov.uk saying p60 is not required?

I have no idea what you mean by 'ILR assistant'.

Given that we have offered advice to 100s of Tier 2 to ILR members, most of who have NOT submitted P60s and have ILR approved, I will leave you to read through the archived Set(O) paper form and Guidance notes.
