Just curious how many of us are planning to move to the UK after this process?

I am not sure but thinking about it more and more every day. Anyone have insight on how to get a job lined up? Being American would it be best to start with US companies that have a presence in London or another major city?

Maybe there is a better place to post these kinds of questions?
There probably is a better forum for this. That being said, I think it’s very subjective as to each person moving to the UK. As an American, I don’t feel that my situation would be any better than it is now if I made the move. For some in worse circumstances, it is an opportunity for a better life.

As far as a job goes, I think it’s prudent to have a decent amount of savings. Maybe check online job postings and try to set up some interviews for when you’ll be there. I think there are other forums on this site that have good information on this.

Thanks for that, and i know where you are coming from. I am aware that if you have a US passport, you are legally required to enter the USA on it, but am not sure that it is a stipulation for the UK.

Time will tell....
I wasn’t saying that only applies to the US. It applies to every country. If you are a dual citizen you are always supposed to enter on the passport of the country you are a citizen of. If you will get in trouble of doing for not doing that is another question. Technically if she enters the UK on a US passport that is a temporary tourist visa. I’m pretty sure if she walks up to the customs officer and says she is a UK citizen and plans to stay indefinitely but presents a US passport that will cause problems.
In the case of Nigeria, if you're a Nigerian citizen, you can still enter Nigeria with a UK passport that has a Nigerian visa in it. It does happen fairly regularly.

I went ahead and paid to send an email this week in hopes of getting some update on my status. And to confirm they have my documents. After getting bounced around to a couple different departments I received a system generated response which says among other things:

If you are seeking progress of your application for naturalisation and it has been with the Home Office for less than 6 months we will be unable to provide you with any further information. If we require further information from you, the case-working team will contact you directly.

So it appears I spent money to contact them for nothing.

Just passport and a printout of the appointment letter. The USCIS officer will stamp the letter, but you're not required to do anything further with it, other than keep it for your records; the biometrics themselves are transmitted electronically to UK.

Oh gosh, that's not on to pay and just get standard automated reply. Not sure what email you used. but on my letter that came back with my requested return of documents there is a fax number and email. Fax number : 01512131961 ( I live in the UK , never sent a fax in my life so not sure if there is a code to put in front if you are in USA ) OR the email : nationalityenquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk maybe these may help you.

I totally get your frustration on waiting and not hearing. Honestly never ever has something got to my patience so much. It's a happy time to do this, but oh my so stressful. I've not heard anything since letter asking for my biometrics which I did 2 hours later after letter arrived ( in UK we can go to a post office that has the machine , no appointment needed) , then I asked for my docs back a week later.

Thanks. Had to do it for my son for his student visa two years ago, and do remember that we didn’t need to do anything after.

For UK visas you do need to include the USCIS stamped letter in the application copy and supporting material that is sent to the processing UK consular office in the US. I know this first hand .

Nationality applications don’t have this step and everything is handled by Liverpool until you’re due for your ceremony. I had no dealings with any UK consular mission until days ago when I was contacted to attend my ceremony .

Hello, All!
My situation is unusual in that both my parents were born in the US, but due to several citizenship law changes in the UK, I qualified for citizenship through my mother (she became a UK citizen by marrying my father, so I inherited citizenship through her). I used a registered UK solicitor for the process, as I was confused a bit and didn't want to waste my time/money mucking about on my own.
Here is my UKM timeline:
Sept 28 2018 - Sent an inquiry to a solicitor
Oct 30 2018 - Application sent to Home Office (via solicitor)
Nov 14 2018 - Application received by Home Office
Dec 4 2018 - Notice to schedule biometrics
Dec 20 2018 - Biometrics done (at local USCIS office)
Jan 17 2019 - Applicattion approved by Home Office
Feb 22 2019 - Notice to schedule swearing in ceremony from local UK Consulate
Mar 6 2019 - Swearing-in ceremony to be held in Consulate

I'm so excited to go to my ceremony, especially since it will be on my birthday!!

Aww, what a way to celebrate your birthday :) Have a fab ceremony and birthday. I was to be born 6th March but was late ha ha I finally decided to rock out on the 19th.

Wow you heard back quickly after biometrics. I had my biometrics done and our Post Office sent them over instantly on Feb 1st. I've not heard anything since , only my documents back as I requested them back. Hoping it's not to long now before I hear. I'm in the UK and done it all myself.

My wife’s application was signed for by UKVI on 7 Feb, and today we received a case number from the Home office and also an acknowledgment from UKBA. Is this usual ?

Her cheque for £80 has not yet been cashed.

Your on the right lines as my application, It looks like it down to the caseworker and the way they work it seems. I too sent in mine within the UK and done myself.

This is whats happened to me so far :

Mine was sent in and signed UKVI 28th Dec
Tuesday 29th January £80 taken from account
Wednesday 30th Jan - email in with case number
Friday 1st Feb- Letter saying case number and acknowledgement
Friday 1st feb- Biometrics letter requested
I went straight to town and had biometrics done 2 hrs later after letter arrived.

Not heard a thing since, apart from my request for my docs back which I got on Feb 14th. It's a waiting game, thats playing with my anxiety.

Thanks.

She is applying from France, so slightly different. It is a long story, but she had biometrics done in Paris three months ago in a failed ‘returning resident visa ‘ application.

It will be a long wait....

You finally got your biometrics. Assuming you get done mid March, you should have an approval around end of month, going by the timelines I faced.

Requested 15/03/19 Bio-metrics date. If the theory is correct I should be approved shortly after biometrics.
