How long I should apply to get biomeritcs appointment at VFS delhi for visitor visa?

Do I have to submit electronic copy of documents online before I can book appointment at VFS?

Will they allow another person along with person who is applying to help him with documents inside VFS? the applicant is senior citizen and not good with English or handling the document.
