Is it true that the investment threshold will be lowered to 50k as oppose to 200k for initial applications, putting aside the new complexity in demonstrating the 'innovation' part...

There is no need for guess work. The information/guides will be released by UKVI in the beginning of April. Also this forum will not be the right place to discuss these. We are planning to add a separate new sub forum dedicated to these new routes.
